I loved your story and could sense your passion and excitement! Thanks and huge congratulations. Many dedicated hunters will never kill a buck in that class.

Mfloski, awesome buck especially for 80 acres. Gives this 80 acre Young county landowner some high hopes. If it were me, I'd reconsider your BIL's lease idea and stick where you are.

That is an excellent buck..I applaude your persistance and you did get the animal..but you also have made a point I've long held
about my personal reservations on bow hunting..and I've seen much
the same with rifles also, however with a rifle one could have shot the animal again. You got a great animal, I'm sure you will put him on the wall..I hunted an old mossback out of Forest
Tx all of my high school years and only saw him twice..didn't have the equipt. or know how to take the animal and a lot of dog
hunters tried also...I think he died of old age..Yours should make a great mount..Don Dial

Again, Great buck and Great story. Job well done and you did a helluva job for your first buck. The "do it yourself" factor by being on a small lease and not having anyone else there is pretty damn cool.
What does an 80 acre place go for in Throckmorton today? I hunted 6 miles east of the town of Throckmorton off 380 for ten years.

Nice!

...and that noise in your chest was your heart beating & not a drum! Even when I'm just sitting & watching with no intention of shooting I get that same feelin'.

Good Job!

Ive shot a deer in the same place and found it a month later! followed the blood trail for awhile and it ended! That shot is what we call the no vital zone! It seems to be inbetween the liver and the lungs! It was a trophy buck and we found it a month later with just the bones and skull! About a mile and a half away from the shot! In the very back corner of the lease! Killed me inside not being able to get him but at least i saw him later!
