Yes, i hunted last mon, tues, wed, and saw several smAll bucks chasing. Once it warmed back up activity slowed. The deer are eating acorns at our place and are scarecly hitting the feeders. Guy i work with huntsdown the road about 10 minutes and he said he saw several deer eating at his feeders. The only trees i saw with acorns under them were live oaks. Saw some copperheads as well so be careful and good luck!

I was out there this weekend, saw a few bucks with does. At our place in Victoria county, I watched a ten point chase a doe around for a while.

But I doubt any real breeding was going on.

Thanks for the responses. Doesn't sound too bad. Hope some of those bucks are still moving when rifle season opens.......

Used to hunt Lavaca County, always seemed to peak around the first week of rifle season.

For us it is usually winding down around the rifle opener, after first weekend we generally dont see much rut or breeding activity.
