On Christmas Eve morning 2005, my father and I had finished up a duck hunt on our old lease in Ft. Bend Co. On our way out we were making the rounds looking at all our other tracts of lease land. Not far from where we had been hunting on the county road that borders the property we were hunting, we came upon a gruesome murder scene that looked to had occurred the night before. Called it in and had to stand out in the freezing cold, that was the year it snowed hard on the coast. I'll never forget that morning.

Many other folks had posted about finding fossils, arrowheads, graves, old homesteads, stills, and all kinds of other neat and crazy stuff. I've found plenty of neat old stuff and what not but nothing will top that morning,

So what's your unsual find?

Nothing as memorable as that but I did learn that Bumblebees nest underground while scouting for dove.

My brothers lab started digging and as I approached I noticed a bizarre electrical hum and the ground was vibrating. About that time the lab yelps and jumps backwards with several bumblebees on her nose and many more pizzed off little black rockets swarming out of the hole.

I ran right out of a shoe. Had to wait over an hour to go back and get it.

Found an old slaughter house in a small little clearing on my families cattle land. Still had the pulleys, hooks, and tables in it

an old outboard motor when the lake was way down. Thats the only thing I can think of...

... oh, and a black taped-wrapped .22 on the saide of the road when i was like 12 years old.

I found a $100 bill on the bank of the Angelina River when I stopped to take a pi$$ on a fishing trip.

Found some human teeth on Lavon. Turns out... there was an indian burial in that area. Found that out after contacting the police and the CoE. They determined the teeth to be from an indian of the Caddo tribe.

I used to hunt in Southern New Mexico really close the border with Mexico. I have found bales of pot, cases of smuggled liquor and burnt out cars. I left them alone in case someone was watching. I found several hundred dollars of twenties once that I kept. They were scattered in ocotillo cactus.
Once when I was running the dog, I found a parachutist who assumed that I was the pick up vehicle and climbed in the back of the truck. I took him to the nearby airport. He did not even say thanks. The jump instructor gave me a twenty.

I found an Indian "buffalo processing facility" along the banks of the San Gabriel river. A buddy, who is an archeologist, and I convinced the property owner to let us conduct a site excavation. Brought in a bunch of UT archology students. Found the skeletons of 23 bufalo in one pit. Found 4 rock midens and lots of tools used to "process" the buffalo.

They assumed is was Comanche that made a large kill nearby, hauled the buffalo there, the whole tribe processed them and then they hauled the meat back to their villiage.
