The last couple of days have been pretty productive. I managed to make 4 stands, calling in 5 coyotes and one bobcat. Shot at 4 coyotes, killing 3. The one miss that I had was a 30 yard chip shot with the shot gun...What the WHAT!?Called in this YoY female using a custom Howler made by NCK predator calls. I was playing pup distress on the side of the reed. Next stand was a bust, but the very next stand I called in the palest bobcat I have ever seen! I mean this thing was almost WHITE! Bobcats are off the table on this piece of preoperty though, because the land owners wife looks at them as her pets. Called it in with a call made by TJ Shockler, sound was a higher pitched jack in distress. I tried to get a picture of it as it was coming in, but didn't think of it till it was really too late. It saw me reaching for my phone and high tailed it. 4th stand was really bizarre. I had started to develope a bit of a tickle in my chest from the cooler weather and felt as if I tried blowing on hand calls it might make me start coughing on stand, so I switched to the FX5. Playing coyote pup distress2 at the 8 minute mark, I see movement to my left and see bouncing ears through the taller grass(Down wind). I mute the call and begin lip squeaking, this freaks the coyote right the "BLEEP" out! He circles up wind of the call and is heading for a creek bed to my right with me barking at it. No dice, he never stops and makes it to the creek bed presumedly to never be seen again. I started the FX5 back up and the coyote comes BACK!? This time he sees the MOJO decoy and stops and poses for me at 60 yards and the AR drops him in his tracks. I let the call play for about 5 minutes when I catch movement again to my left. A coyote appears from the tall grass and posts up at no more than 30 yards, I squeeze off a 3" 4Buck from the shotgun and the coyote hits full stride faster than Rickey Henderson. I follow up with 2 more shots and apparently miss all 3 shots!!! The very second that the coyote hits the creek bed, another coyote comes out of the creek bed at about 100 yards and never stops doing Mach 5. Never got a shot on that one. I let the caller play another 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I think to myself "This stand is over, pack up and move to the next stand". I mute the call and set the controller down and grab my shot gun to walk out and retrieve my caller and decoy. About half way to the caller I AGAINcatch movement to my left, turn and look to see another coyote down in a little bowl jumping back into a tree line. It didn't act as if it had seen me so I hunkered down and made my way back to my stool and remote. Started up the FX5 again and this big male comes in on a string. 55gr Hornady SP dropped him where he stood. 4 called in, 5 minutes apart and from two different directions. Chupa

I did notice something however, the small male that was killed on the quadruple voided his bowels when I shot him. The scat was full of grasshoppers still, no hair, no bone. I haven't used much prey distress this season, but what I have used has been unproductive so far. Use their maternal and paternal instincts to your advantage.

Awesome man , it's funny because I Had really good success on distress last week !! Found grasshoppers and mesquite beans in their scat as well. Goes to show you how unpredictable coyotes really are.

Chupa, ace of diamonds huh? You on Matt Charskey's team? I'm on team #1 with Kelly Jackson. Not sure how I got lucky enough to draw a horse like Kelly two years in a row. That man is a machine. Chupa

TJ, if we had it all figured out, we'd find a different challenge. The fun is finding new tricks. Chupa
