Looking at getting a new bow and really can't spend more than $500. What are yalls opinions on the PSE Brute? I currently have an older PSE Nova and has been a good bow just want something newer.

Shoot it and all others that are under 500$ and then make a decision on which one you like.

I'd choose the diamond outlaw over the brute. Unless you jump to the madness I think the diamond offers more for the money. I love my pse plenty. Have you considered getting a used pro series bow instead? $500 will buy a very well setup 2010 or so bow.

I've thought about Scot but not sure where to start looking. I've never bought anything off Ebay...

Archery talk is the way to go. Last 4 bows I've owned I bought there. I paid less than $350 for a nib bow madness xs, no reason to spend big bucks on lower end new. Just make sure you know your draw, it has a good string and the seller has good feedback.

Just a whole lot slower, with more weight and low end string...

Have you never had a water buffalo walk by you stand? I need 100+ ft/lbs of energy to be sure I'll be ready for anything. And a bow that draws like a cross bow is much more enjoyable to shoot.

My first bow was a BruteX. I loved it, very smoothe draw and quiet release. Very adjustable also.

Well I dont plan on hunting water buffalo so i guess no. All im saying is the new brute x will do everything those 1,000 dollar bows will do.

brother got a brute a few weeks ago and it felt nice and looked great (skullworks), but with $500 you should keep your eye out for a good used mathews.
or look at the bargain cave at cabelas, had some bow madness xs opening weekend for just under $400
