Good story and write up for sure, Ive tried to get on that lease and brushy creek about 6 years ago being so close to home but never could. Id take that deer from ETX over a 250" STX deer any day. Congrats AJ once again.

I was honored to have the first opportunity to write a story about this deer. Great hunter, great hunting family...including his 2 year old daughter, who is posing with the deer, her dad, her uncle.

Great deer, great story. The price on that lease just went thru the roof!

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

The deer had recently escaped from an ajoining high fence ranch.

That is a great deer!

The Article said the game warden thought it was a free range deer.

"So, was this deer a free-ranging, naturally-born wild deer? Perhaps we will never know for sure. But, San Jacinto County Game Warden Aryn Corley thinks this deer is the real thing."

It's a shame a guy can't kill a trophy like this and just be congratulated. Someone always has to spin it into a negative.

You sound like a mad ranch owner.....lol

It's a great deer!

Since it was brought up about being free range as it very well could be, but didn't TPWD transplant deer from south Texas into that region several years back, as the property owners stated there weren't many deer there years before.
That said, it doesn't take away from the fact that it is a monster trophy and buck of a lifetime.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

That guy is going to spend the rest of his life not shooting anything because nothing's going to come close. Great buck

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

I should have mentioned in the story that they estimate the deer to be 5 1/2 years old...and it will take 60 days before they will make an official score.

That's an awesome buck free range or escape!! Congrats on a monster and even if I knew it was an escape deer I'd still whack him.

I love the logic... Some people amaze me...

"HF deer don't count because the deer can't escape!"

"This deer doesn't count because he escaped from a HF!"

Errrr?????
