I'm in Oklahoma, so my deer camp starts Sunday night for the Monday opening. We were just talking today about what food to bring, and I kind of drew a blank.
I don't object to hot dogs and cold cuts, but I like to eat well and don't mind prepping ahead.
I'm looking for what is your favorite dish, either main or side that you like to do or bring to deer camp. I've got a couple of days at home to prepare.
Kevin
We kept it as a pet for several months until it got run over by a truck. Then we ate him.

Most folks love my Carne Guisada Cube venison into 1 inch chunks Add a little bacon grease to a large non-stick skillet and brown the meat on med. heat. In a stew pot add a can of Rotel Habanero Tomatoes and a can of water. Bring to a boil. As the meat simmers it will create it's own gravy. Once it begins to reabsorb it's moisture you'll need to add some Fiesta Brand Carne Guisada seasoning to the mix. Don't be shy with it. Once the moisture is mostly absorbed by the meat put it in the stew pot, reduce heat to a slow simmer, cover and cook for about 4 hours. Add water as needed to keep it in a stew like consistency--not too thick, not too watery. Once the meat is tender, add more seasoning until it thickens. Remove from heat and serve with hot tortillas. For breakfast most like my cowboy breakfast tacos: 1 lb. pan sausage 12 eggs onion 2 jalapenos 1/2 lb. chopped potatoes chopped tomato In a big skillet, over campfire, put in some butter and the chopped potatoes. When the taters are near done put in the crumbled sausage, onion, japs, and mater. Once the sausage is browned, add the dozen scrambled eggs. Stir until done. Serve with hot tortillas.

That sounds great. Will do that one

We have a very large fire pit that we can lower a cooking grate and grill with mesquite wood. One of our favorite things is grilled chicken thighs. Just Natures Seasoning and cook until done. Really simple but it is dang good. That's actually what we had last night.

Go by La Michocana an pick up some beef fajitas. They are already marinated and are good on an open flame. We have these every opening weekend.

Love that pit Ringer. Here is my backyard model. Cool to throw in the back of the pick up for hunting, fishing trips and tailgates.

Thanks 4W! I think it is six foot in diameter. You can cook a ton of fajitas on it. The guy who built it put a spatula on the end of a broom stick so we could turn the meat. That thing get HOT! It makes the best steaks you've ever put in your mouth.

Saute some onions in butter with a splash of olive oil, when they get clear add thin strips of liver from the first kill. Maybe some heart, but my wife gets cranky if I don't bring it home. Kidneys diced and scrambled in eggs are damn fine too. My fav though is the fresh tenderloins barely browned in a little butter. A fine single malt scotch after all the work is done is a close second though.

4Weight yours looks perfect for what I have been looking for. Did you make it or buy it? I saw one in Canton last year just like that and did not have the room in the truck to get it. Went again this summer and never saw the one I liked again. Should've of could've would"ve is the story of my life.
