Nosler makes factory ammo for the 280AI. You just need to make sure that your chamber is cut to the Nosler SAAMI specs.

Custom gun, short action would be 7mm-08
Long action, probably another .270
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

id say build a custom varmint gun in one of the varmint calbers since that is probably what you will use the most.

I don't really consider this a mag but it is belted and that 257wby There is no way you can't consider it a magnum it uses ungodly amounts of powder and lets not talk about the added recoil and muzzle blast it adds over the 25-06 for a mere 100-200fps.

Lol, we are still talking recoil under a 270...... In fact 80gr ttsx recoil less in my 257 the 100gr tsx in my 25-06. When most people think mag the think recoil of 7mag, 300mag, wsm's, 338..etc. I wouldn't put the little 25 bore in same realm, recoil wise

Short action - 260 is 1st choice or a 6.5x284 will fit best in a in M70 SA. Long action - ummm a 338-'06 would be fun, but a 9.3x62 most likely, however a 9.3x64 Brenneke will stretch a M70 LA receiver plumb full like the SAKO 9.3x66 does and go as fast as a 375 H&H in comparable bullet weights, or a 375 Scoville and get really close to a H&H performance wise on a regular '06 case to take advantage of the 375 bullet selections. OBTW the 7mm Brenneke's will duplicate a 7RMg speed wise on a '06 length case, I'm told...but brass is a PIA to find and very spendy and cannot be made from something else because of the diameter at the case head. Short - 7mm-08 Long - .280 Rem.
I already have too many .264 caliber rifles so I went with other calibers.

I'll agree recoil isn't really even a factor, what I meant is when loaded with same bullets the 257 will have more, that speed has a cost.

I would love to see the data behind that Nosler and Sierra show 200fps spread with 110(Nosler) and 117(Hornady) at max speads. Sierra with both running 100gr bullets is only 100FPS.

Well the only factory 100gr tsx is via federal for the 25-06 and then you have the weather by ammo for the 257wby

Not saying anything's wrong with that data but if the exact same bullet is used energy and velocity will bleed off at similar amounts which would lead one to think the spread would remain uniform throughout not shrink.
