I moved to Germany earlier this year. For some reason I didn't realize it was opening weekend of bow season until my brother-in-law called me to tell me he got two pigs.

I am now depressed I am not bow hunting right now!

Any other military feeling the same way?????

I've been in your position MANY times in my military career. Definitely sucks, especially to miss an entire season. Hopefully you might be able to atleast come back at some point and drop the hammer.

It has got to stink but we are grateful for your being there for us.

Thanks for your service! I missed hunting and more than a few other events over the years, I know I appreciate being able to do those things now and so will you. Hang in there and thanks again.

Plenty of hunting to do over there. I was stationed in the EUR for a good while.
France has a hog problem and are almost always looking for some archers to help out. Ask around and talk to everyone you can and find out more. It is Illegal to bow hunt in Germany. Actually you are only legally allowed to bow hunt in France, Turkey, and Italy. But the other countries are starting to come around. There are some archery shops and a bunch of the bases even had some 3d ranges set up it is almost like an underground archery community.
Don't forget about traveling with Ryan Air,the Bowtech military overseas discount (full set up: bow, sight, rest, quiver, sling, peep, and stabilizer. for about $400-$600 including shipping) and hunting in countries such as Sweden and Finland.
It is out there. You just have to find it.
If you have further questions hit me up.

Thank you for all the info. I have been through the 12 week hunting course here and am going to get my jagdschein on Friday. I am looking forward to the opportunities here, but still miss being in a tree in the states.

I live on base so I am running into issues with firearms storage. The German side is easy, it is the US the military that is screwing me.

I will certainly checkout the Bowtech deal.
