We have MLD 3 this year, but we are not getting very many tags, they give us these forums to fill out about how many deer and such we see and I was wondering if the more deer we report will we get more tags next year or are they doing their own surveys to say how many tags we get?

Surveys of the property under MLD is what tags are based off of. MLD is great if you have to many deer and need to kill numbers. If you are at or below CC then you are limited to what they give you tags for. Could also be a partial issuance on tags till you turn in your incedental counts to them. If that is the case then they will issue more tags or not at that time. Make sure to do the card counts as they told you. What county?

We are in Trinity County
And we see a good amount of deer each time we go out, but if it is partly based on those surveys do we need to go out there more just to fill them out?
Also i know some of the guys have been real bad about filling their reports out and i didnt know if that was effecting us or if it is mostly based on their surveys

IF they are not doing accurate or not doing any survey cards then that is hurting you if you have high deer numbers. They will understand, for example if there is 10 of you on the lease and you only get 5 buck tags this year.

There should be some form of survey done to base harvest numbers off of. Every place I have been has to have a spotlight or helicopter survey done then the observation cards turned in also.

they usually want you to do them and maybe a biologist ride along for some of the spotlight surveys.
brushy creek is a huge wma that has been broken down into smaller mld3 leases.

You can request that your bio come out and ride along. Ours requires us to do a minimum of three spotlight surveys along with the day time observation report before we submitt any paperwork to him. The daily observation report is a record of every deer you've see during daytime for the entire year. I made copies and keep one in every vehicle on the ranch just so I don't forget to fill it out.
With that said I have had some very inconsistant permit issuance over the last four years. But the bio is always willing to listen to reason and adjust accordingly.

Wow, without giving away too many details, all I can say is some of the guys I hunt with need to be a little more pro-active in filling out observation cards.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Bio and lease "manager" ride around with spotlight and a cooler full of beer. Over 5000 acres and only saw 1 doe. LMAO! Then issued over 50 doe permits saying we are over populated. This practice has gone on for SEVERAL YEARS now. Every year I see fewer deer. MLDP=Masacre Lotta Does Please.

we use a private biologist to help us with data collection, etc.. but our TPWD bio for Kimble county has always been a good, honest guy to work with. permit issuance has been pretty consistent, but our harvest totals have not been so consistent.
Stuff my dad said in the deer blind
"I can dive deeper and come up drier" "did you do that?"

The maximum number of deer (or anything) that a property can support.
