Checked the mail today and had two notices of selection waiting for me.
White Oak Creek WMA Gun Deer/Either sex, and Richland Creek WMA Anterless&Spike
I used to live across the lake from Richland Creek WMA so I'm aware of what that area has to offer.
Can anyone offer up some information on White Oak Creek that might help my situation? ie: camping info, terrain, 4 wheeler or ATV, pop up blinds, anything important i might need to bring with me.
Thanks.

The country at white oak is fairly similar to Richland creek, though less swampy for the most part, but still a lot of thick east texas woods. Tons of hogs.
We stayed in a motel in town (about 15 miles away) when we hunted it a few years ago, but they did have a camp site available at the WMA I believe.
They did have a skinning rack, but did not have cold storage.
I dont have a 4wheeler, and got around fine without one, but I *think* they did allow folks who brought them to use them on certain roads in some of the compartments.
We saw a couple of groups of hogs, and managed to drop a decent one, but no deer in our compartment, but a couple of guys on the hunt did tag out deer. (I think it was a GDA hunt fairly late in the season).

I hunted there last year in the draw. Very nice peice of land to hunt. Saw a fair amount of deer, and took a doe onthe last day. Didn't see any legal bucks. My main problem was that I was set up and seeing deer, then the people in the next compartment over start blowing by on their 4-wheelers at 8am (I guess they overslept?), then back by at 10am, then back by again at 1pm. No offense to you guys using 4-wheelers, but at least try to only use them to and from your area early and late. Oh, and by early, I mean way before sun up......not at 830 in the morning......I think they were joyriding more than hunting. I have a limited amount of time to hunt each year, so I tend to take it seriously.

Thanks for the help guys.
Would you recommend one compartment over another?

I like the high line close to the river. I believe there are 2 compartments with the high line running through it. One on each side of the river. The one to the south your gonna probably need a 4 wheeler cause its a long way back there if I recall.
Also there is an area north of I 30 thats wild and woolly as all get out. It touches the sulphur I believe and I noticed what can only be described as a lake back there. Looks like a duck hunters heaven but the woods are so thick its hard to see.
We have hunted it a couple a times. Pop ups, thermo cells and a 4 wheeler to get what ya kill out.
Good people run the hunt and its a lot of fun looking around those old woods. If ya see an ancient deer stand in a tree, give the are a good look. At some point somebody thought it was a good area.
Oh yea a compass/GPS and a map are a real good idea. You can get turned around in those woods.
Guy running the hunt told us that is we see a big black hog, make sure its not a bear before ya shoot it. There have been sightings in the area apparently.
Also at the HQ, there are a lot of good game cam pics TP&W has taken of all kinds of critters. Also pics of previous kills that are impressive.
It ain't easy being me.
