What 4'' 1911's do y'all like? And why?

I'm looking at picking one up and was curious what people's opinions were on them that have used them.

Thanks Gentlemen

Love my stainless Springfield Champion. Function has been flawless. I trust it with my life on a regular basis. Only drawback it is a little heavy.

The 3.5" I use for CC and it disapears under regular tee shirts, it is a little on the heavy side compared to say a XD or Glock but its not poly either.

Click Here for a pictures of mine and a range report.

Also these are in the $400 range and there really isn't any reason to pay more look at the reviews on them, they are top notch and out shoot alot of the more expensive brands like the Colts, Kimbers, and Springfields. But $650 for that colt one post up is a good deal for sure.

Reposted this after I removed the Noob's post trying to sell here, which took KRoyals post with it.

I guess I should have clarified that I'm looking for opinions on the .45 ACP's as well as a higher end 1911's....
Kimber, Springfield, S&W, etc.

I just got back from looking at the Kimber CDP PRO and the Tactical PRO but the Tactical PRO was a little too heavy when compared to the CDP PRO. I definitely like the CDP PRO.

MORE OPINIONS!

A Colt Commander would be my choice for a classic 1911. If I wanted to get fancy with it I'd go STI - Lawman 4.0 or Ranger II. They are made in TX if that matters to you and in my opinion a cut above most the others in their respective price range.

the only thing i can say is i'd go steel and not lightweight.
i've got a lightweight springfield champion, and while it's nice the lightweight frame can make it a lil snappy

Colt New Agent. Easy to conceal. You just have to get used to the trench site on it.

Glock: It's like a hammer, not very pretty but works when you need it.

Owned the rock island, and have shot the ATI and noth shot great. They have good price to. I also owned the springfield which shot great. I now have the 3.5 inch colt lightweight defender. It came back to my local gunshop twice, so i bought it. Found why it came back, would not function. Did a little tweaking here and there and now it runs great. Recoil is not bad. They run around a 1000.00 or so. Seen them used in 800-850 range.

Best depends on yoir price. The Dan Wesson CBOB and VBOB is going to be about the best for the price. After that it jumps up to a much higher price.

I recently purchased a new Dan Wesson Classic Bobtail and it shoots like a dream. It's a commander sized 1911 (4.25") and comes with quite a few Ed Brown parts as well. I think it's night and day over my Kimber and probably one of the finest 1911's for the money. Although they have been discontinued since 2010, you can still find them used or maybe even run across a brand new one like I did. Do some research on the Dan Wesson and you'll see why they are a great value.

I like my Colt Commanders, have a few all steel and a couple of LW`s.
A little pricier than some, but worth it to me.

Jeff Cooper once said if you couldn't buy a Colt and put $1000 extra in it, go with a Star PD, best thing out of a box. Course what would Jeff Cooper know about 45acp and 1911s ?? I have a PD and also a 4" Detonics, both great but different weights.

I have carried a Kimber Pro CDP for the last 9 years and haven't had a single issue with it since I broke it in. It's accurate, light, and has little muzzle flip because of the bull barrel.
