If I pig hunt at night and kill a pig, do you think it will spook the deer the next day? I'm just tired of pigs running my deer off

I actually shot a hog couple days ago and the deer never left, now they looked at the stand for awhile but stayed another hour, also had deer on camera that night and every feeding there after!
Every place is different though!

I'm really wanting to stick some pigs with my bow Friday night while we wait for opening day. BUT I will wait if it's going to scare them off.

I'm hesitant to do anything the night before opening day. I go straight to the house and chill. Now if they come up Saturday morning I'd stick their [censored].

As with every questions asked on here about scaring deer, ie: peeing, smoking, etc, the less you intrude on a mature deer's territory the better chance you have at killing him.
Is it going to run ALL of the deer off? No. Will it run the biggest deer in the area off? Maybe. You have to decide if it is worth chancing it or not. If the pigs are running everything off it is worth the risk IMO.
Doing it with a bow shouldn't be too bad.

Depends on the property and how much activity the deer are uses to. I hunt in south Texas where u can let loose a whole clip with an AR and the deer slowly walk off and hunt in central Texas where you fart and won't see a deer for the rest of the sit.

I'm in Baylor county and I am unsure if the deer are used to anything (my first year on this lease)

A year or two ago I was in one of my hay pasture box blinds during deer season and about 5 doe came out of the north side of the woods and grazed over in front of me and then a 5 point buck showed up and grazed a short ways from them (no rut action at all), and then a big boar came out of the south side of the field and started strolling north. I let him have it with the 260 and down he went. The deer did not run. They looked over at the hog, which was maybe 80 yards away, and the buck walked over to get a closer look and then they went back to grazing. I thought there'd be deer running in every direction when I fired the rifle, but it just didn't happen. I thought that was a bit strange, but I'll put it down to the fact that all the deer were young. There's really no hunting pressure here at all. It's just me, and as much as I target shoot, maybe they are just used to the sound.

Every place is different though! Same here. Shooting pigs doesn't bother much. I don't mess with anything opening weekend though. That said, I've never let a pig walk!

Well I think I will wait till bout Sunday night to shoot a pig. But that being said they have now been showing up in the morning and cleaning most the corn up before the deer get a chance. So I'm also thinking if I can thin the pig heard a bit to bring some of the bigger deer back.

I also hunt in Baylor County your best bet is put hog panels around your feeder unless you don't mind the hogs. I have one feeder fenced off and another just for hogs

That's where I'm stuck. I want to hunt pigs but I want to tag out with good deer too. So I don't mind the pigs that much but I have several pics of the pigs pushing the deer off.

On our place in Lampasas county early season the pigs are hitting the feeders so hard they are keeping the deer away. Once they get a couple shots on them they leave or go noctunal and we start to see a lot more deer. Most of our pens a barbwire but we do have one that is hog pannels and it usually has more deer at it and deer there every time you sit there. If I were you, I would put hog pannels around 1 of your feeders and then you dont have to worry about pigs there anymore. If you wana shoot a pig go to the other feeder.

If you don't kill the pigs you aren't going to have any deer to worry about.

Put up a feed pen and then a trap to catch the hogs. Shooting hogs one at a time every so often is a loosing battle.

I have a terrible problem with pig's here in n.e. wood county.I went and brought 6 hog panel's and built a pen around my feeder,That put a stop to them getting to my feeder,And no it does not bother the deer,I have pic's of the deer jumping the fence to feed. .The hog's don't seem to come by as much,But if they are seen they don't get far

Shoot them, trap em or put panels up if they are coming to your feeder during prime hunting hours. Had a big boar a long time ago started coming to the feeder right at opening day when the feeder went off, did not see any deer until after I shot him. Within a week the deer came back!

Guess pends on where your hunting? You south? Im near Lake Somerville, near Nails Creek State Park, have plenty of deer, plus piggies, soon as hogs show up, deer leave, then about hr later they are back!
