Alright guys, got a question for yall. My girlfriend is dying to have a .22 pistol for some reason. What are some good ones that yall have messed with and used thats a pretty reasonable price? I dont want a crappy one but I also cant afford a dang top of the line one right now.

Ruger standard style are hard to go wrong with. 50+ years, parts/mags/grips are available almost everywhere. And not too expensive. Can pick up used cheaper pretty easily at any gunshow.
Let me clarify on the standard style: ANY of the original style 22 pistols-Standard, Mk I, II, or III. Metal grip or the 22/45 polymer grip frame.

In God we trust, all others get run through TCIC. Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Lack of Planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Ruger or Browning buckmark. Both have been around a long time and have tons of after market options.
I dont care for the other offerings out there. Most I have shot had poor triggers.

I dont want a crappy one but I also cant afford a dang top of the line one right now. The reason she wants one is because they're awesome and she has great taste. I have a Sig Mosquito and sort of wish I had a Ruger instead like the ones mentioned above. At the time, Sig and Walther were the only ones offereing a factory threaded 22 pistol. Not that my Sig is bad but i just like the Rugers better.

I bought a Ruger SR22 for my daughters; the main reason I did not get the better reviewed/tested such as the ones listed in posts avobe is the size and weight considering its for my girls. The SR22 is little and light. We have put about 1K rounds of cheap ammo and have had zero problems; fun little pistol.

I like the Buckmark better than the Mark II if I wanted a .22 with a full length slide I'd go with the SR22

I purchased a Ruger SP-101 about a month ago. Unfortunately, have not had a chance to fire it. 8 round cylinder. Fiber optic front sight/rear adjustable.
Reviews have been very good.
Hopefully, I'll be able to put this thru paces soon with a report.

Ruger makes some nice ones. I had a baretta neos, and it was not a good gun.

I have a Browning Buckmark....love it. One major advantage compared to a Ruger is that the frame is the serialized part so it is a little easier to modify it if you want and cleaning/take down is much easier.

The new Ruger SR22s are nice and will run with any ammo.

Can't go wrong with a Ruger Mark pistol. I have owned most .22 pistols, sig mosquitos are a little picky on ammo (CCI mini mags only). Walthers are similar. Browning Buckmarks are very nice too is ruger doesn't suit you.

I have a buckmark. I've killed several rabbits and coons with it over the years.

If you are looking for something to teach full-size/centerfire pistol use, I would go with a Walther P22 had one for years, and probably more than 10K rounds through her with no problems. The controls are in the standard places, and having a traditional slide will help if trying to teach someone to clear malfunctions. On the other hand, if you are looking for more of a target pistol I have worked with Rugers,Bbuckmarks and S&W 22As. I think all of them work great, but the classic Rugers are a little harder to clean then the other two. I would head to a gun show or a range where you could rent them, and put them in your girlfriends’ hands. That’s how I picked out my wife’s 22A, she actually shot steel challenges with each of them and settled on the 22A just because it fit her hand a little better than the other two.
Good luck

I got the Ruger SR22. Love it. Not a single FTF or FTE
