I've got a half ton truck and found a set of used tires I'm thinking of getting for cheap to get around for a while. They are off of a 1 ton truck with a load rating of "E", is there any problems going up in load rating? Or should I just keep shopping?

There is no problem going up in load rating. The tires will just hold more load than the truck. These tires should be thicker, heavier & tougher than stock tires, but may ride rougher. Normaly they cost more.

^^^ What they said.
I use load range E tires on my little Nissan and Jeep because they have stiffer, stronger sidewalls which are ideal for off roading.
As far as loss of ride quality... I think it's negligible.
