I have been looking at a Liberty Lincoln 50 gun in white marble finish but wanted to see what everyone thought of them and if anyone had any other recommendations? My wife's only requirements are that it is nice enough to go in the house, ie no hunting murals on the front. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I am no expert, but I would try and get the thickest walls that I could afford. I would want at least 10 guage and thicker would be better. Seems most safes are 11 or 12 gauge. I have heard positive reviews about Liberty safes so I would not be opposed to that brand.

I have always been told not to get one that has the configuration of the hinges being on the outside on the door. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a safe.

Just get one and make sure that it is big enough or bolted down.
If they come prepared to cut the hinges of with a torch, I hate to break it to you but they are going to get it!

I've got the Liberty Fat Boy Jr. Bought it from Gander when they had a sale going. I've been really pleased with it. I think the only thing I'd changed would be the lock. I have the dial lock instead of the number pad. But it's not bad at all, takes me about 5-6 seconds to get in it.

I wish now that I'd purchased a vault door and built a safe w/plate myself..You can find salvage deals on the door..plus most safes are only 10 gauge walls w/sheetrock inside for fire protection...You could use a couple of sheets of 1/4 in or thicker plate and build a larger item if you never need moving it, and need more space..Mine was supposed to hold 26 long guns..and might if I took out all of the shelving and racks..but I'd really have to pack it to get most of my toys in it..and I think I could have built one more than twice a large and heavy for the same money or less..DD

I secound the digital pad. I went with the dial and kinda regret it. My only other opinion is to get one twice as big as what you think you need. It stinks to have to unload 1/2 the safe to get to the ones in the back.

Thing about a gun safe, well at least for me.... I feel like I have to fill it up and have bought more guns in the last couple of years sense I have got my safe. good luck to ya. They all do the same thing takes a lock to get in protect form fire, and keeps them dry no bad choice out there unless you get one of those real cheap ones like a gym locker or something
If I put my wife in a high fence will her rack get bigger?

Security Products, Waco TX. Mine just survived a fire. +1. I like to support Texas businesses. Ricky's been building gun safes in Elm Mott since the 1970's. And he stands behind his product. http://securityproducts1.com/

If you want a deal the best prices I have seen are at Costco around Christmas time. The usually put the big one on sale for 699. Tractor Supply and Academy also have great prices on their black Friday deals. They sell Cannon safes. My firearms reproduced when I put them in the safe. Get a big one. Good luck

I agree, buy one at least twice as large as you think you need.

I noticed the Academy Sports in Fort Worth had a couple of Browning safes on sale last weekend - decent size, I think they had a 45 min fire rating?

I recently bought a Cannon from a small independent dealer that I found on Craig's list. He's located in Garland and absolutely smoked the prices of the big retailers. I bought the 24 gun Safari complete with the indoor organizer for $600. The best thing is that it was made in America. If interested, PM me and I'll send you their contact info.
