La Finca, we eat there regularly. The owners are great people!

Anybody remember the White Elephant? I remember it well! When I was a kid, it was a "special occasion" when I went there with my grandparents instead of to the DQ. I went there a handful of times when I was small, and then after a long hiatus went back when I was 18 or 19. Wow, what a shock! Either it was a total dive and I just didnt notice when I was little, or it really went downhill in between!

Great steakhouse and saloon in Albany; The Beehive. Excellent steaks. Not a diner. Not too far from Cisco.

Huge roach crawled up the wall between us. He laughed, patted his holster and said, "Reckon I ought to shoot it?" We decided that his revolver might not be up to the task.

Flying solo in Putnam tonight/tomorrow. Has the food situation changed any since the last post to this old thread, Nov '12?
Thanks - Mickey

The cafe next to the Filling Station is the only thing left in Putnam and it closes after lunch. Have never eaten there. Nothing open at all in the evening.

The Mexican restaurant in Eastland on the north I20 service road is called La Familia. It is pretty good. The one on the Southside of I20 service road is Pulidos. I have not eaten there so I can't say how that one is. And another +1 for Marys in Strawn! They have some of the best chicken fried steak. I've been eating there for atleast 25 years. La Familia was pretty good last couple times I ate there about a couple years ago.

aeb loves Rattlesnake Jacks....but I think it's closed down now.
There's not a lot here....La Finca and a little dive on the Breckenridge Hwy. Eastland has Pulido's, Rico's and a few other choices. Kens in Breckenridge, Mary's, Los Cazadorres or the Beehive in Albany, Cooks Fish barn between Rising Star and Comanche used to be good. We go the Abilene to treat ourselves to a good meal anymore.
Oscar (the dad) was a sexual predator. I leave that there.
I played defensive end next to his son, Oscar in high school. He was an all-state tackle on both sides of the ball. He was the best there was at a 2-A level in the 90's. He now runs his own BBQ restaurant in Virginia.

Lets just say it was a tough weekend. We seldom eat out anymore as a result of my blood sugar problems but the family likes Rico's in Eastland. Used to have Reserved Seats on Friday night right behind Oscar's family. We missed a lot of the ballgame. Iy was a hoot watching and listening to Oscar's wife during the action. She really got into the game. I would say she was rather excitable! , and more.
