I probably go against the grain; but, my dog always rides in the truck w/me. He needs to be where I can carry on a conversation w/him!

I have done both, my first dog rode in the truck, the dog I have now is only 2years old but I learned to use the kennel for her. It is much easier to have them ride in the kennel, no mud in the truck, no hassle with them going thru food or bags in the truck, and no bother with other dogs at your launching site while getting the boat ready, it was just easier for me to use the kennel.

In the truck with me. He likes to look and see where we are going. When we go off road he goes nuts.

Thanks all. LOL, no I had to buckle him in. I have to open the door for him too. That is just a glimpse of his personality; he is very laid back and eager to please.

In the truck, Sometimes he thinks I need to help him chase cats, squirrels, deer, rabbits..... here the squirrel was in front turning running across the road to the left. He knows he is not allowed on my side of the console unless invited.

Of course he gets in my seat ready to drive anytime I get out of the truck.

My dogs do not ride in the cab. I for one do not want a dirty, hairy mess in the cab of my truck. soap More importantly it is safer for the dog to ride in a secured kennel or dog box than in the cab of the truck. Think about it this way, the less a body (any body - human or animal) moves during a wreck it lessens your chances of getting seriously injured. This is the purpose of seatbelts and air bags. That secured kennel/dog box is a seatbelt/air bag for your dog. If you let your dog run around in the cab of your truck you are increasing their odds of being severly injured in an accident. You wouldn't let your kid(s) ride in the truck without their seatbelt on; why would you let your dog? I hate to get all serious on this topic however I see too many people do it without realizing the dangers. I'll get off my soapbox now. grin

My dogs ride in the back of the truck...no kennel unless going somewhere that they might need to be in it.

Having your dog hanging out in the bed of your truck ups your cool factor by about 20 lol

my lab loved the new electric beer window in my old truck. put her in the bed while she was wet. she'd dry off a bit and tap on the back window, so then i'd open it up and she'd crawl in and sleep the rest of the way home!

until the dog gets a "wild hair" and decides to jump out of the truck, and gets hurt. Ask Jeff Elder on this forum. I believe he had a dog jump off a flat bed one time(hence the ONE time)...
