adopted a one year old pointer and from day one, you get her excited and she starts to snap her teeth real quick. she does this when she's hungry, playing ball, getting scolded, anything she does, she snaps her teeth quickly. i think it's a nervous habit she picked up from her old home. i've only had her like two months but she's not getting any better about it and she'll bite her lips when she does it sometimes.

anyone experience this? very emotional dog with out much drive so i think i'll keep her as a "pet" but it's still an issue that i'd like to work on.

advice?

I had a finnish spitz that would do that.... She eventually broke her teeth when she got older. I could never break her of this habit unfortunately.

i'm afraid she's gonna break her teeth too! she's only a year old so maybe there is still hope that she'll find something else to do

Mine does when she gets excited. She done it since she was a pup and she is 7 now. WOW. Seven. My how times fly. It seem like it was just last week when I saved her stray butt from going to the pound.

My 9 mo pup did it for the first time sunday when we had 2 large pigs comin' down the shoreline toward us. Sat and stayed and growled w/some teeth chattering. Shot sent the pigs running.

I do that too.
