I would stay away from Vapor Trail, just because their customer service sucks. (just my $.02). Go with M & R Bowstrings, Crackers Strings, or Winners Choice.

I have strings that were custom made by a guy on Archerytalk that goes by bucknasty. I have had them almost 2 yrs. They are great strings and they were only $50 for string and cable. Not sure the price now. Talked to a few guys on the forum that shot Winner's Choice before his and they won't go back.

I had bucknasty strings on my Guardian............they were a POS. I still have them on my Switchback, and I have already had to take the cable off and reserve it because the serving had come loose. I also have already had to repair the serving around the cable on the string. I will never use the Bucknasty strings again.

You say you had to redue the serving. Did you have the Halo on it or just regular serving material? how long ago did you get your Bucknasty strings? And do you shoot with your release on the strings or with a loop?I apoloigize for all the questions but I'm in the market for new strings as well and know absolutely nada about 'em . Thanks

I had the Zebra strings that originally cam e on my Mathews Outback and they seemed to have stretched quite a bit. I have not had that problem with my Bucknasty strings.

You are the first person that I have ever heard of that had a problem with Bucknasty strings. Have you called him? He will take care of the problem. You can find his number on Archerytalk.com

If you are going to badmouth someones product, you could at least give him a shot at making it right. I am sure not all of Winner's Choice strings come out perfect. JMO.

They're not bad. I am still getting a slight peep rotation even after 300 shots. It is getting better, but I am still having to turn the peep before each shot. They do look gooooooooood on the Legacy though.

Have you ever put your own strings on your bow, or do you take it somewhere else and have them do it? Do you take the time to put it in a bow press, pull it apart, change the strings and cables and then spend the extra time getting the bow back to specs, making sure the ATA is correct, checking the cam lean , making sure the poundage is correct? Then put the time in to shoot the bow to break in the strings, re check the bow to see if it is in specs, re set up the rest, paper tune it as well as anything like serving in the peep, or serving the string where it touches the bumper of the STS................
Go through all of that and still have a set of strings that you are unsatisfied with a couple of times and it will beciome annoying. It is not worth it to me to mess with Bucknasty strings again. Even if he sent me a new set of strings and cables There would still be a chance of peep rotation. I know that strings from Winners CHoice are more expensive, but they have zero peep rotation from the get go.
Now multiply all that by 5 bows 4 that are mine and one that is my wifes, that get shot multiple times DAILY and you can see why I do not want to bother with it.
But you go ahead and take your bow and have soemone else do all that stuff to your bow and use whatever strings that you want to.

I talked with the folks at Winners Choice today. I should have a custom set of strings and cables for my Switchback XT here by next friday. Was only 5 bucks more for custom colors so I went that route. $127.00 shipped to my door, but when you look at the money I have invested in that bow, I can't see putting a cheap set of strings and cables on it.

Winners Choice makes a good string and I have never had a problem with the customer service. I have been using Bucknasty lately and so far they have been great.

Last week had my new vapor trail strings and cable put on my drenalin. They worked great until about 150-200 shots than my peep did a 180 turn. Made me feel like I should of left the cuddas on the bow. My cuddas never moved in about a year and a half. Hopefully this is the only time they will ever move. Took the bow in and had the shop get it back to specs, but have yet to shoot it. I kind of wish I would of maybe spent the little extra and got the WC, but only time and shooting will tell.
