Saw several coveys feeding out in unplowed wheat in Young County. Covey size from 6 to about 13 birds, some of the birds were not full grown

Well not a report from dove hunting just a report from the ranch. I'm seeing allot more birds than I was expecting after the drought, we've had some pretty good rains at the right time and the birds are responding. It's about 50/50 blues and bobs, seems the bobs handled the drought better than the blues. May take a few birds this year I'm just not sure. One more good year and we'll have an explosion of the like we had a few years ago when covies of blues were running 50 to 75 and the bobs were running 20 to 30. This was on the big ranch, my place always seems to do a little better. I'll start feeding next week and will have a better idea of what we have.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Been seeing quite a few birds. Here lately in south Texas. More than I've seen the last 5 years
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Ken & Joe hunted Mitchell county and reported seeing 5 coveys on Saturday morning around where they were doving. Said 4 bunches had a average of about 10 and one had about 18-20.Seems to be quite a few more than last seasons wash out.

Just got back from a week at the ranch in Scurry/Fisher counties. Saw several coveys including one of about a dozen birds that were all still small. Still nothing compared to what we had 4 years ago, but much better than the 2 coveys I found all of last deer season. The area in general has lost A LOT of grass and some brush. It's going to take several average years or a couple of wet years in a row to come back. On the bright side, I now have 7000 acres to hunt with no cattle.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Hunted just east of El Paso in Clint this past weekend. There were quail running everywhere out there. Didn't see any large coveys, I'm sure they were there but they are really hard to see in the desert, but saw lots of singles and doubles.
