I have decided to use some of the SSA ammo for an upcoming aoudad hunt at the end of the month. I'm not sure what type of distances I should be expecting to fire but the location will be central Texas during the last weekend of Sept. The aoudad can reach about 320 lbs and from what I've seen on youtube these suckers are tough!
I was just wondering what those of you who have used these loads for hunting have to say about which I should go with. The less tracking the better! lol All are equally accurate to 50 yards. I know I need to get out to 100 yards and see what happens but 50 was all that was available the last time I was at the range.
The loads I'm torn on choosing between are... 110gr Sierra Pro Hunter 85gr BARNES TSX 110gr BARNES TSX 110gr Nosler AccuBond

I hit a large mail just above the shoulder with the 110 pro hunter. he reared up a little on his hind legs and then fell to the ground. shot was taken at 300 yards +/-. I've used the 85 grain on a few coyotes, but that 110 pro really impressed me.

I'm going in Oct. I'm using 140 grain accubond at 3300 fps. I was told to be able to shoot upwards 450 yards. Don't know what kinda of land your shooting on but 100 seems close. Good luck!

Have you tried SSA's 140gr. VLD Berger? A buddy of mine swears by them and has taken multiple animals inluding a cow elk with them from an 18" AR.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

I haven't. I don't think my magazines will hold them due to their overall length. I think you need PRI mags and I just don't want to spend 40.00 on one magazine.

So, I hate to change the subject, but let me get this straight... 6.5 Grendel IS good enough for 300-400 yd shots on Aoudad, especially with the 140 gr Accu-Bonds? But they require PMI mags?

I have researched and observed a couple of my friends with diff. magazines, PRI in my opinion, makes the best magazines. I heard that new SSA round mentioned above is the business. luckily you are in east texas so i would estimate that you may not be taking the longer shots like out in West Texas. I got lucky and got close enough. I think anything farther than 500 and the 6.8 might not have enough energy. i could be wrong but i've set my limit to 400. i am using a 4x trijicon acog.
