Has anyone ever used a rag with diesel fuel on it to bait hogs? Rumor has it that it works really well, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done it.
If night hunting was an olympic sport, I'd be a gold medalist.

why waste the rag you can just pour it on the ground. It really does work, not sure why it works but it does.

i've always wondered why also, we used to just pour it in the traps and we'd had a whole bunch in there when we checked it... makes sense though now

I would not pour diesel on the ground. I believe that is illegal. The EPA would hit you with a fine so quick.. Now... I have found burlap wrapped around a tree works. But the funniest thing is an old rail road tie will work too. just throw it down might want to dig out the ground by it to make a mock wallow. They will take to it.
But nothing is better than corn for attracting hogs..

the EPA is the single most incompetent government office there is. as long as your are not pouring it into a creek and not pouring out gallons at a time, the impact to the enviroment is nothing. you did more damage driving in to dump it out than you did dumping it on the ground. sorry to get off topic but the EPA makes me want to .

It is definately more environmentally responsible to use burlap drenched in diesel tied to a creosote fence post than to pour it on the ground, but pouring on a brushpile would be the gift that keeps on giving.

old bluejean legs cut out and wrapped over a stump soaked in diesel..we have put out 3 different rub areas and in 1 week time the hogs have rubbed on all of them..some say it helps keep them bugs off personally i just think its an attractant for them to come to...next thing to try , post holes full of sugar...id like to see if they will root it and make a waller out of it..i might buy a case of fanta red to add on top...who knows..

I have good results from using used diesel motor oil. We wrapped a carpet scrap around a fence post and then poured the used/burnt oil on the scrap. That post was a better spot than the feeder was.

I soak corn in diesel before I bait the trap, then spray area around trap with diesel to cover scent. Works very well.

I recently went out and put five gallons of diesel on some old stumps...and yes...the hogs found it. But I wonder if used cooking oil from the donut shop would work as well? Anyone ever tried it?
