I hate snakes so I normally carry mine just seeing if I am the only that wants more than three shots if you come across a snake

12 ga shells are cheaper than handgun shells for the snakes.

I've never needed more than one shot from the scatter gun on any snake.
However, I usually empty both barrels, then reload a few more times and empty those just for good measure. Then I pound it with a large stick and then set the remains on fire. If time allows, I'll come back with a back hoe, run over it a dozen times or so, and then bury it 6' deep and push large boulders on top of it.
I hate snakes.

It's easier to hit a rattlesnake with a shotgun than a pistol.
Non-venomous snakes are given a verbal warning.

I put a few rounds of buck shot in my pant pocket for hogs or coyotes. Last season I heard hogs a ways off and had the wind in my face. Loaded up buckshot and before I knew it I was in a heard of 20 or so and unloaded on 3 hogs. For snakes though the shotgun is the best option.

I'd lmao if I saw some goober in the field wearing a pistol. Why? Specifically? I lmao at a lot of goobers in the field in general.
I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.

Why would anybody put down their shotgun and pull out a stinkin pistol to shoot a snake Some folks just look too deep into things.

If you need more than one three shots with a scattergun on a snake then you have got serious problems..

I carry simply because i carry everywhere else. My side arms are like my wallet, keys, cell phone and pocket knife. Never leave home without them.
