Does anybody know how much the super combo licenses have increased in price in the last 20 years or so? Looking into getting the lifetime license but want to make sure it's still worth it.

that will depend on how long you plan on living and how old you are now?

About $40 bucks if memory serves me right. Based on that kind of price increase I'm inclined to go with it.

Call me skeptical, but does anybody here really believe that the lifetime license is not going to get hit with a "special assesment" in the future? The way the legislature is STEALING money from sportsmen and women.(See JEH7mmmags post from earlier today). I can assure you it will. Crapshoot at best, IMO.

A Super Combo is $64 or thereabouts.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

I bought one for my son a few years ago. When I told him I was going to buy on for me too, he said I was too old to recover the cost. He's probably right. If you are young, it's a good deal.

Lifetime hunting/fishing combo $1800. That's equal to 26 years of current $68 Super Combo licenses (not taking into account that in 26 years it will probable cost over $150).

Lifetime hunting/fishing combo $1800. That's equal to 26 years of current $68 Super Combo licenses (not taking into account that in 26 years it will probable cost over $150). $1800 at 2% interest would pay $36 of the $68 license cost. Interest is going to go up, maybe a case of when but it will go up. If interest was 4%, the money in a CD would pay for the license and leave a little left over. Any rate over 4% could be add to principal for increases in license fees. That is the positive argument for not buying the lifetime. In reverse, the fees can increase every year, and interest rates can remain at the current bottom of the barrel rates. Then the lifetime purchase would be a worth it. Just remember when you start computing all of this, at age 65 the fees drop to a minimal amount. So age, investment and interest all need to be computed in to figuring a decision.

My saving account isn't at 2% and the stock market??? Up and down. Extra cost as Erathkid mentions? Maybe. I just hope I live for another 25 or 26 years....

I can remember paying .50 cents for a license when I was a kid and only needed it because of the deer tags...Finally got over 65 and now I get 1/2 price which is about 3 or 4 times what a reg license used to costs..Everything is higher...partially because of the dollar value/devaluation...and rest add in good govt...Most countries only the very rich can enjoy hunting..and I think we are well on the way..Look at what some of you pay to shoot and hunt a goat...(whitetail deer)...I know some of my cousins are paying around $7K a yr each to hunt near the Border, and have to worry about illegals/drugs/guns...and have pastures they cannot hunt because of them..pluse feeder/trucks/blind ect DD

Lifetime hunting/fishing combo $1800. That's equal to 26 years of current $68 Super Combo licenses (not taking into account that in 26 years it will probable cost over $150). You must also take into account that Lifetime Hunting License covers the state duck stamp and salt-water stamp which is another $15 on top of the $68. The biggest advantage to me, is that even if you move out of state you never have to buy another license to hunt or fish in Texas and out-of-state licenses are very expensive. I have a lifetime license for both Arkansas and Texas and I am glad I got them.

Super combo also covers saltwater and state duck stamp, only thing it doesn't cover to my knowledge is the federal duck stamp.

Why buy a license when the world will be ending on Dec. 21st? Suckers.

I bought my lifetime license around 1990 and paid $500 for both hunting and fishing. Pretty sure that a combo license sold for $25 back then. For several years we still had to buy the stamps separate, but they're included now. You can bet on neither the lifetime license or the annuual licenses going down in price.

Bought my son a lifetime license when he was about 13, They were $1000. then. Like Doc said, still good even if he moves out of state. Wish I had one for Colorado.

If you plan on hunting another 20-30 years, a good buy... But then $68/yr is easy to digest too
