I hunted a 3000 acre pasture and it had very few deer and tons of hogs. Wichita ran right through it and looked amazing. Mostly thivk cedars and heavy mesquite flats with canyons breaks mixed in and it was just very hard to pattern or find where the deer were at.

Thanks for the info. We are looking at a property that borders the Copper Breaks state park. Close to the pease. Not to far south of Quahna. I think it gets worse the further south you go toward the witchia river?

I have hunted on land that is probably pretty close to where you are talking about. It borders Copper Breaks. I have always seen plenty of both mule deer and white tail. Lots of hogs also.

I own land West of the Copper breaks area right on the Pease River. With all the agriculture and planted field coupled with the semi isolated source of water in the river...this area holds monster bucks. I have personally seen both white tail and Mule deer that could score into the low 170's in the area. On our property alone I have seen as many as 3 different bucks that scored well into the 150s if not low 160s last season. As many have already mentioned there are an enormous number of hogs in the area. I dont hunt them hard but I usually manage to kill 4 or 5 pigs a season...I even killed a 400+ lb boar with my bow. I thought it would be funny to get a big pig shoulder mount...550 bux later it wasnt nearly as funny as I thought..haha...Come time for the rut...hang close to the river..Bucks cruise up and down the Pease looking for doe and in big numbers. As far as Mule deer...stick close to the alfala...if there is any in your area.
