7mm08. Good glass, long eye relief and a good recoil pad. or a .257 Roberts.

I like the 6mm just a little better than the 243. My wife loves her 270 but with what you listed I'd go with what several have already mentioned, 7/08 - 260 - 25/06.

I think it would depend on your wife and somewhat her frame or how handy she is with a weapon..The 25-06 w/a 26 in bbl is by far a hotter rifle, but the 243 and 7mm-08 will both kill effectively if the shot placement and projectiles are good and one can use a 6 1/2lb rifle w/a 24in or less bbl...But if she is going to hunt and or you may well inherit the rifle yourself I'd say what interest you somewhat..Most ladies make good hunters once they get involved and they do not usually have to unlearn what us old men do w/Cowboying...and Cap Pistols ect..DD

My wife is 5ft tall with short arms and she liked .308 so I let HER pick out a Winchester Youth rifle ordered in .308 and gave it to her as Christmas present many years ago..... (..of those YOU listed 7-08 would be MY choice!)

All feedback is greatly welcome Well I picked up a 7mm08 for Mrs B and she loves it, we plan on going after a few bigger exotics and her 243 was just a little light. She's 5-2 about 115 lbs and handels it with no problems.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

7mm-08 you can't go wrong. If you think she can take a little more recoil then I would move towards 25-06 for longer distance shooting. The 7-08 would be my first choice for a lady or child because of the short action, shorter easier to handle gun and manageable recoil with plenty of knockdown downrange.
What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe. Go get him! Shoot him in the face!

All feedback is greatly welcome 260 is good but good luck on finding one. I have been searching and no luck. Probably the easiest one to find ammo for is going to be that 25-06 but if your reloading then any of those should be fine.

Depends on her build. Height? Long arms or short? Will it be just for TX game, or will you also chase larger exotics? Do you reload?
If you don't reload, my top choices would be .25-06 or 7mm-08. My wife is 5' 7", she loves her .25-06. She can practice with it without being scared. But, if you think critters larger than deer/pigs are in her future, I might drift towards the 7mm-08.
Whatever you do, make sure the rifle comes with a good recoil pad, or better yet, take it to a gun smith and have him add a good pad and fit the stock to her length-of-pull.
The .260 Rem is a great little round and would be my top choice, but it is not widely available in many rifles and ammo is tougher to find.
