Might be able to scrounge up some more but wanting to upgrade my burris scope and wondering what some inputs would be. Would love a nice $1k scope but not gonna happen... got tuition to pay for

Shop around and see what you can find in the Vortex Viper line.

what Burris are you upgrading? I like the fullfield II line, I put a 2 x 7 on sons .257 Roberts. For the money, seem to be good quality, clear and bright. Nikon and Leupold make a lower cost scope probably in that price range. Also check the classifieds, some nice scopes being sold there.

quite a few of the vortex are good, lot depends on what you want the scope to do, range, reticle, etc.

Thanks for the ideas, I'll check em out. I think I have a burris right now but the website said it might be a cabelas brand, it is just what came with the rem 700 package I got last year.
Range would be under 300 probably and that'd just be range, 150> for hunting
also probably need to grab a range finder so I don't have to depend on my dad's

Redfield Revolution series (Revenge series is made in Phillipines I hear) made by Leupold in USA, also Weaver Classic V series scopes for that price.

Don't know if they have any more but like the Vortex Viper 2-7 I picked up from Cameraland this year, for 200

For that Price, I am awfully impressed with my Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14 DF BDC. A ton of scope for the money and IMHO better glass than the Leupold VX-I or Redfield. I bought mine off of SampleList for I think $219. Call Skylar at SWFA, he will put you in the best glass for your price range.

I've got Nikon monarchs on all my guns at present. I've been very happy with them. I just picked up a model 70 featherweight. I'm going with a Leupold VX-2 in a 3x9 on it. Really would like a Zeiss conquest, but money is always an issue. I don't think I'll regret the Leupold.

Redfield Revolution....Awesome scopes. Same as the cheaper leupolds...just different gas inside.
They are having a scratch and dent sale at Midway on these right now.

Different what..... All Leupold products, including Redfield products are purged with Nitrogen gas.

Would love a nice $1k scope but not gonna happen... got tuition to pay for For $300 you can pick up the Leupold VX-2 (not the older VX-II) For $400 you can pick up a Zeiss Conquest. If your doing alot of night or dusk hunting the Zeiss has better low light handling than the Leupold. If you are going to be doing a lot of scope adjustments with the turrets on the Leupold would be better.

This is what i would go with, have 3 myself. For that Price, I am awfully impressed with my Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14 DF BDC. Vortex viper line or leupold vx 2 would be my choice. Both seem to be very good values. The rebates on the vx3 make it a real good deal but that's more like 400 or so
