Thats crazy. I've actually attempted to hunt this area several times in the last few months. One of my friends' uncle owns the farmland that is just north of Mound Lake. Apparently, they had an agreement between owners to be able to hunt this land. I've been out there night and day three different times and have't seen anything other than birds. It is fenced, but the fence is pretty crappy and torn down in many, many places. Not worth the $50 in my opinion.

This sounds like a great deal if there are actually crane on the place. I will spend 200 on a crane hunt in itself and if I can get that then it would be well worth it. I have several places to hunt, but if it had geese I would be all in.

i have seen several hogs out in that area..if there are any salt cedar stands there will be porkies...sounds like a 50 dollar place to go drink beer and hang out at the worst.

Sounds like a scam...there is nothing out there but dirt....no cranes or dove or quail...you might could get a sparrow if your lucky...ill let someone come shoot a grackle out of my back yard for $20

Because of the playa lakes that area between Tahoka and Brownfield does get more than its fair share of ducks, geese and sandhill cranes. It is on migration route that brings them through that area.

What about for varmit and predator type hunting? Does not sound like too bad a deal to have a place to go hang out and have a little shooting fun.

I would call an official in Brownfield and see what they say. The ground or lake could be too rich in some minerals or something to support any wildlife so that is why they are going this route. Wouldn't it be 100 times more easy to just lease to a bird outfitter if you actually had birds??

Looks like the boys from the metroplex have once again lived up to their reputation.

What do you mean? The seller or me suggesting you do a little due diligence to make sure nothing is fishy about it. I lived out there for 6 years and know the area is covered with birds and still hunt out that way. One good hunt there would pay for itself so a good deal.

Oh, I was thinking animal hunting. While I was on the land, I saw geese and crane. If you're into bird hunting, then the $50 would be well spent.

I went ahead and gave them my $50...even if there is not one blade of grass or one bird on the whole place I would pay $50 just for a place to get out of town and shoot a little. If I get to shoot a crane or two it will be well worth it in my opinion and maybe ill get luck who knows. I am going out there this afternoon to look around

i google earthed it and saw what appeared to be a motorcyle track on the place..apparently it had a deer feeder on each end that they were racing around.

Let me know the skinny on the place if you were able to go out there. I am dying for a place to goose/crane hunt in the winter.

I drove out there and looked around but didn't get to go on to the place. It looked ok there was not much water and it looked to be just big salt flat. It looks like it would be good to go out and shoot some rabbits, call varmits, and shoot. I didn't see any geese or cranes. Sometime this week I hope to actually look around the place. I will get back to you with some more details.

Your not going to see any geese or cranes at this time of year.......wait for the migration in the fall/winter.....then you will really know if there is waterfowl......

Time is not wasted if you spend it with the ones you love.

The one thing I am worried about is it haveing 500 people on it all trying to dodge each others bullets....it might have been a waste if it is crowded....i don't think this guy cares a lick about the land just wanting to make some quick cash.....
