I have quite a bit of property to hunt this year abotu 40 to 100 acres depending where the cattle will be rotated. Ive hunted this place my whole life for pigs and dove and varmits and just want to offer a hunt to those listed above. i would like todo it once a week with a group of no more than 4 at a time. all i ask is that you hunt the property respectfully, legally and that you do not return uninvited. please send me a private message for my number and a link up day. this will be free provided u bring your own gun and shells. located inbetween bardwell and rankin.

Now that is a great offer. Not to high jack a post at all but that might be to far of a drive for some of you from fort hood so please send me a pm and I can take a couple of our troops out as well. It might take me a week or so to reply but I would love to take some of you brave men out and smack some birds. Located just north of waco so do not hesitate to send me a pm bc I know how tough it can be to find some public land in the cen-tex

Probably some mis communication on what you are doing, but would hate to see someone get in trouble if there was some misunderstanding on the regs. There is no two week rule and any evidence of the chopped corn would have to be completely gone or removed at least 10 days before you hunt, not "before u hunt".

http://www.fws.gov/le/pdf/dove-hunting-and-baiting.pdf
The 10-day rule recognizes that removing bait does not remove the lure created, and that doves will habitually still be attracted to the same area even after the bait is gone. A baited area remains off limits to hunting for 10 days after all salt, grain, or other feed has been completely removed.

According to TPWD It is Illegal to Bait

Baiting:

Doves are migratory birds, and dove hunting is therefore regulated by the Federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which specifically prohibits baiting. Under federal law, baiting is
the direct or indirect placing, exposing, depositing, distributing, or scattering of salt, grain, or other feed that could serve as a lure or attraction for migratory game birds to, on, or over any areas where hunters are attempting to take them. [Title 50, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 20.11 (k)]
Further, the federal law defines a baited area as:
. . . any area on which salt, grain, or other feed has been placed, exposed, deposited, distributed, or scattered, if that salt, grain, or other feed could serve as a lure or attraction for migratory game birds to, on, or over areas where hunters are attempting to take them. Any such area will remain a baited area for 10 days following the complete removal of
all such salt, grain, or other feed. [Title 50, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 20.11 (j)]

Excerpt from http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/nonpwdpubs/dove_management/dove_agricultural_operations.pdf

The way I read that is that It IS illegal to bait, and you cannot hunt a baited area until 10 days after the bait was removed. NOT 10 days after the area was baited. So if it was baited 12 days ago, but there was still bait there yesterday....Then you cannot hunt it.

As a firefighter myself, I certainly appreciate the offer, but would decline based on your interpretation of baiting, because my job is too important and was too difficult to obtain to chance getting busted and possibly loose the job.
