This happens to me every year. I trudge through the hot steamy summers, maybe casting a line into the water fishing, or take the boat and family out to the lake. I do whatever I can to keep my mind off of hunting season for as long as possible. Then, around the same time every year, right before back to school starts, it happens.....WAL-MART starts setting out camo, ammo, decoys, calls, and corn! I see it, and my mind drifts off to cloud 9, in a daydream, thinking about the upcoming hunting season. Whether it birds, deer or hogs, it happens everytime.
I start looking at the calender, marking off day after day, and counting down, and I just can't wait to get back to the lease, to check my feeders, and game cams.
Its almost time guys, just a little bit lnger.
How many of you does this happen to also?

Ditto except I work year round on a hunting project of some type it seems so when Wallyworld resets their sporting goods for hunting season it reminds me of what I need to finish up so I can get down to hunting! So Amen brother! Today license sales start so I am headed that way before I go to work.

It is morally wrong to buy your gear in Walmart....just sayin'.

I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.

If Wally World is cheaper for the same gear, then they get my dollar. I am a hunting whore and my dollar goes to the cheapest bidder!

Did my license online this morning. Called to confirm and was told it would be in the mail tomorrow.

I feel ya. If it's all you can do, then it's all you can do. I just really dislike going in there.

It's worth a drive to Academy to avoid Walmart.

Can't honestly say that I actually buy any of my hunting hear from Wally-World. I usually hit up Academy or Cabelas. Once in a while when I am pressed for time, I may pick up a bag or 2 of corn.
My point is that once they start setting their hunting stock out, I know its almost time. I mean heck, here we are already a little over 2 weeks away from dove season.

What's the problem with Walmart? I love that place.
You think the other stores don't carry mostly Chinese
goods? If so, your fooling yourself.

Walmart by my house now has three plastic hunting blinds with aluminum windows and door frames as well as wood poles that put it about 8' off the ground. Pretty well made but the price is a cool 1K.
Don't know of many Wally customers that are going to shell out a grand for a blind, but they may just be discounted way down after the season and they need the room.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

I think a man could make alot of money opening a sporting goods store in rural areas. Selling everything from hunting gear, corn, blinds, firearms etc, to fishing supplies and bait. I know from living in rural counties its not always so easy to have to drive 40-50 miles to pick up some new gear at the big stores.

If you have 3-4 smaller towns in a 20-30 mile wide circle, putting a store smack in the middle would make alot of sense.

I have a dream, maybe one day it may come true.
