pretty good chance the turkeys are pretty good I am 23 miles east of Freer Tx and turkey are good there

I hunt north of there sometimes and haven't ever seen a Turkey.

We are northeast of Freer. Saw a group of 7 gobblers just before deer were dropping their antlers this year.

Depends on the availability of roosting cover. Areas, typically bottoms, but some tanks as well, that have good roost trees will hold birds. More birds in the mesquite/mixed brush savannahs than upland chaparral brush.
