Looking for some advice as to what bullett I should go too for my daughters 223. Last year she killed a doe shooting 55 grain Remington core lock. Looking for a bullet with more knock down and that will leave a better blood trail. What size and kind of bullet would you go with. These were recommended

Depends on the twistrate of the barrel on her 223. Federal has loads with the 60gr Nosler partition which works well in most.

I would stay away from the ones in the link. There are other better bullets. There is a 64gr bonded bullet but not remember which company sells it. If the twist rate is 1:8 or faster, the 75gr A-Max has worked well for many. My favorite bullet for the 22cals isn't cheap but the Swift Sirocco 75gr is about as good as it gets IMO. Some really like the Barnes TSX bullets I have not jumped on that bandwagon.

I have killed lots of deer with the old 55 grain Remington PSP. I have seen the 55 grain Barnes TSX in 22-250 do a number but still not that much of a blood trail. I shoot highpoint of shoulder shots so there is no tracking for me.

Kmon1 has good advice in suggesting the Nosler Partition.

I used Hornady 75 gr TAP on my buck last year and it was devastating. Exit hole was about 2" long, sorta egg shaped. Took a sizeable piece of liver out with it. I've had similar experience on it with hogs, and it's loaded in their Steel Match ammo for $19/50.

Just make sure the core is bonded and over 60 grs.

Are you saying you can get a box of 50 for $19. If so where.

I bought mine locally at Cheaper Than Dirt. Thus far I'm very pleased, they shoot MOA from my rifle and are devastating on pigs.

For a rifle that doesnt have a fast twist, I always recomend 60 grain nosler partitions.

They shoot consistently great for me, have never seen one not go all the way through a deer, and have hit both shoulders a number of times. They work very well for me and will shoot with good accuracy through most rifles. I handload mine now, but shot federals offering of them before I started and they worked well too. If you have a 1:8 or 1:9 twist their are some other options I would consider also.

60gr partition is a good one. I shot a large 9 point behind the shoulder and he only made it 40 yards and left one heck of a blood trail. The red box hornady 55gr SP that they sell at academy in a box of 50 works well to. Leaves good blood trails and I have probably killed 20 hogs with them.

For a 223 I'd be looking at something in the 150 grain selection (j/k of course - i'm a wiseguy hammer)

62 gr Barnes TSX. Barnes are awesome bullets out of smaller cal rifles. My daughter shoots a 22-250 with a 45 gr TSX and it lays deer out.

If your daughter is like most of our young ones, you will not have her shooting a lot of distance..The Barnes are great projectiles..I shoot a 55 grain made for the 1 in 14 twist of my
22-250 and get great accuracy and one shot kills even including
one I had to shoot thru the shoulders..Shot placement is the key
work on her on a bench at the range..see if she can hit a 4in
circle every shot..then teach her to shoot head or neck..DD
