I need a small framed backpack (1000 - 1200 cubic inches) with lots of individual pockets or dividers for small items like GPS, calls, etc. I've looked at all of the premium brands and none fit what I'm looking for.
Any ideas?

Look at the elberstock x2 I did. The only Eberlestock I was impressed with was the tailhook. But I'm not paying $180 for a fanny pack.

I have the gunrunner and the x2.
Gunner is great for hunting Texas because its narrow and easy to get in and out of the blind door.
What did you not like about the x2?

The X2 is really just one large compartment. I want something with more smaller pockers and compartments.

Hard to beat a Bad Lands back pack. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
Wife has always wanted some Hard 8

I bought a Remington hydration pack for 50 bucks that I really like. Lots of storage and sizable and comfortable straps

WHAT ALL ARE YOU TRYING TO CARRY ,AND WHERE ARE YOU GOING YOU WOULD NEED ALL THAT STUFF ?
MYSELF , IF I CARRY MORE STUFF THAN WILL GO IN MY POCKETS I'LL USE MY MUZZLELOADING SHOOTING BAG ,OR A CANVAS SHELL BAG I GOT AT THE ARMY STORE . IF I NEED MORE THAN THAT I USE A GAME VEST AND PUT WHAT WON'T FIT IN THE POCKETS IN THE GAME POCKET IN THE BACK . IF I'M GOING TO BE OUT OVERNIGHT I HAVE AN OLD DAYPACK OR USE MY ANCIENT ALICE PACK .

Go to the ARMY NAVY store. They will have the best stuff. I go to a place called OMAHA'S and they have great stuff for really cheap. I have two backpacks one for fishing and one for all around shooting and hunting. They are tuff as hell and they have unlimited pockets. They also have military straps on the side and front and you can attach things like magazine holders or pockets. They are defiantly the way to go.

depending what and where, I haul Eberlestock MiniMe or Gunslinger. If needed more space, molle webbing is plentiful to accomodate custom haul. Considering to get a Gunrunner as Gunslinger is a bit too large for dayhunt/daysit in blind. Though you can pack lotsa entertainment there to keep ya busy thru the day. And Gunslinger built in scabbard accomodates all my hunting toyz configurations, with scope and mag attached!

Badlands are expensive but worth every penny. I've carried my 2100 all over Texas to hunt deer and hogs and to Colorado to hunt elk. Even when loaded heavy, you can carry it all day and be just fine.

I use a badlands monster fanny pack. It works well and can reach all the pockets. I never thought I would own a fanny pack but it seems to work well. The only problem is it gets in the way of my pistol holster.

Badlands is out. Quality packs....Yes. Functional packs... Dead last of everything I have looked at so far. They have no organizational pockets at all, EXCEPT the one on the bottom that you have to turn the pack upside down to get to. Still tying to find someone that carries Tenzing to see if they are a dime better. BPS has them online, but does not carry them in the store.

I am going to echo the positive comments on Kelty bags. I am new to hunting, but have been hiking in the back country for a pretty long time and have been using Kelty bags since ~2002. I've had a great experience with the bags, as well as with company reps (though I only deal with them for special orders, since I haven't had a problem with any bags to date).

Why not just a tactical pack like the x3 that has lots of webbing and add accessory pouches and cases

I have several packs:
Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II-great small pack, nuclear bomb-proof, comfortable but no waistbelt. Not the best for hunting but workable. Lightweight construction.
Camelbak BFM500-military pack that will carry so much crap I just never really seem to fill it up. Great organization, built like a tank! Not a light pack..
Blackhawk Black Timber hunting pack-tons of pockets and organization, super quiet material, removeable waist belt, comfortable when stuffed to the gills. Advertises 2557 ci but I can't see how! I put an extra shirt, snacks 100oz bladder, binocs, extra batteries, my portable sun (LED weapon light), a regular flashlight, knife, sharpener and who knows what the heck else in the thing and it still could have taken more. Heavy pack when not loaded.
USMC Arc'teryx 3 day assault pack-MY FAVORITE. This is a 'no frills', stow your crap and hit the woods pack! Two compartments, huge and pretty big, attachment points, hydration, hide away waist strap. It'll carry more weight than you'll be comfortable with without a good suspension pack. I wish I had several of these so I could quit loading and unloading it for the various adventures I use a pack for!! Comes in WHOOP-[censored] camo too!
So many choices, so few opportunities to test gear..
