The dove sniping thread got me to wondering...
Has anyone ever shot a limit with one shell per bird? Six for six, five for five or for the old timers three for three.
I always manage to miss a couple of times or have to water swat a cripple.
Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

I got five for five this last season. was hoping for a sixth, but he never came around. I did get two 6 with 7 shots though. I was still proud of that.
this season is the season for 6 for 6 though. I feel it coming.

My son is usually one shot per bird but I have never been able to get him in front of a limit. Of the two of us he would be the one most likely to pull it off.
Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Does teal season count? If so, with two shells I shot . . well ummm, let's just say a real good limit. First two shots went quick and I immediantly knew not to pull the trigger the third time. Amazing how tight those little guys can get when the're right in your face.

Did it with the three duck limit many times. I really can't remember doing it with a six duck limit. I may have, but after hunting ducks for almost 40 years, it's kind of hard to remember. Remember the days when you could kill 10? That's when we would target the 10 point ducks.

Not even close for me last year. Went to the range at least once a month this year, so this year may be different...

I've done it a few times when things were just right, but I've also shot a box trying to get a limit before.
Next to the last day of the season this past year I got six with 5 shells. Fluke deal, birds were coming in close and in big wads.

Got 3 limits out of a box last season, but that was on a private tank with really good cover. They were right on top of me before they knew it.

it's more sporting to give warning shots, i figure.
(and i've never shot a limit of ducks, unfortunately)

Got limits using like 3 or 4 shells before but it included skillet shooting so I don't really think that counts.
Limited in the past using 5 to 7 shells on days where every single thing is going perfectly. Best one was this past season, 5 greenheads and a sprig kicker in 5 shells, all on the wing.

I don't think I have. But I have shot multiple birds with one shell. And several triples with an o/u.
I have a buddy who shot 5 teal with two shots last year. Didn't mean too. Just kinda happened. Didn't even shoulder my gun that day.

Sure, I got a limit back during the old points system days, one shot, mallard hen 100 points
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Quite a few times actually. Done the 4 for 4 during teal, 5 for 5 a few years back when limit was 5. And a 6 for six last year.
Think it was 5 years ago I shot 2 teal in one shot then finished the limit. It was a 3 for 4. If you can be right on the X and have em cup their wings its really not that hard.

Best I've ever done was 3 years ago. Connected on the first 3 shots and thought I was in for a quick limit. Then I shot like I've never handled a gun before.

I have a few times. Here is a 5 for 5 with a 1928 Browning auto 5. Dang! Look at the size of those mallards! That looks like the Mt Rushmore of ducks! I don't see any plastic on that gun. How did you manage to do it without a plastic gun Rob?

Two seasons ago I had a bunch of gaddies land in the dekes less than 5 minutes to LST. I waited for a couple minutes passed and jumped them up. Ended up accidentally getting a scotch double on my second shot. Had 4 down with 3 shots. When I shot those a couple of Cans got up flew right at me. One shot and got the drake. Five minutes later a pair of greenheads came in. One shot and done, 6 big ducks on 5 shots. I've never done it before and probably will not again. Forgot to mention the icing on the cake. Got a dove and a snipe while I was picking up on two shots. Helluva day...
