Depending on what sights it has that might be the first thing I would change out.

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.

you must realize that fear is not real, It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand, danger is very real, but fear is our choice!

Wolff spring kit and a full length guide rod is a nice start. Beyond that, the money you will spend to get the slide machined for dovetails plus your base cost could purchase a decent Springfield or Remington R-11. When I bought mine I also picked up a bushing compensator because I thought it looked cool. After 1000 rounds or so I started to notice some galling on the frame and slide so I traded it off.

First rule of upgrades.... If you dont know why your need them then you dont need them. Shoot your gun and get familiar with it the way it is first.

I recently traded my RIA, but after firing it, I couldn't even conjure up a reason to upgrade it. It has been extremely reliable and more accurate than any other standard production 1911 that I've had the pleasure to shoot. I'll definitely purchase another RIA in the future. If you're doing any competition shooting and don't want to spring for a Kimber or Les Bear (I wouldn't either) then you might want to upgrade some components but for self-defense and range time, my stock RIA has exceeded all my expectations 100%

I just bought 2 tactical models in 9mm, they shoot flawlessly. I love these guns. One is the 5" and the other is the 3.5" all I did was change the grips on them, and add a mainspring housing magwell kit to the 5". Other than that I don't plan to change anything. Maybe sights later but these would probably be just fine with a little paint on the front blade.
