 XD Conversion Barrel question

I am looking at picking up a Springfield Armory XD conversion barrel to make my 40cal a 9mm. I have both the 4" and 3" model. What I would like to know, can I use the 4" conversion barrel in both of my firearms? Reason I ask, they make a .5" extension, so would the extra inch act as one for the subcompact model? Just going to use this at the range for practice since 9mm is way less than 40cal. Thanks in advance.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. I've seen 1" extended barrels so this should work on your XD.

I was thinking the same. Decided to order it anyways, if it works, it works. If it don't in the SC, it will in the 4".

Something that just came to mind, do you have to change out recoil springs when converting to 9mm?

From what I read, it could help, but not necessary. However, most haven't had to do the swap. It was recommeded to use the 9mm mags though. I figure one mag for the full size will cover both weapons and I can practice cheap.

They make conversion barrels for the XD? I know you could use the .357 sig barrel in a 40 but didnt know you could go down to a 9. I know they make many options for Glock.
