Go to the sportsmans center and ask for Phillip. he can point you in the right direction....Scott will help you out too if he still works there.

Ive been there, and they definitely were less then helpful. On top of that they were barely curious. Getting someone with boots on ground experience is what I am hoping to find.

How does one go about hunting on Fort Hood? go to visitors center on post and get a gun registration form if you are military or civilian. If military take it to your Company CDR to get signed, if civiliian, I'm not positive you will have to ask that question there. DO NOT bring your guns on post to have this done. write down alll you the makes models and serial #'s of the guns you want to register. They will then take your paper and do a background check on you, and unless you are in some serious trouble you will be approved. You then go to the sportsmans center and apply for you licenses. if you are military e4 and below I THINK it is 35 dollars I may be wrong. E5 and up 60.00 for on post. if you are a civilian they are 100.00. you will also need hunter safety card, and a valid texas state hunting license to be able to hunt on FT HOOD. to hunt unguided areas you have 3 options...Archery. shotgun with slug, or muzzleloader. Guided hunts start calling in through teletrack the friday before the weekend hunt. if you cant get in that way show up bright and early the next morning a 0300 and draw a "standby tag" that is for hunters who don't fill slots and you can slip into a spot that way. Got any more questions just PM ME!!!
