Corn prices (futures) can be followed at finviz.com. Graph line is almost straight up since end of May. Bought a few bags at Dick's in Dallas last week for $7.49. Noticed Cabela's at $9.99 yesterday for 40lb bag.

Ethanol is consuming about 40% of production, likely much higher this year considering lower yield due to severe drought. Don't much care for using good food(or moonshine feeder) for fuel except in emergency. Seems like such a waste.

Definitely the worst dought since 1988. I'm sure everyone is ready for this weather cycle to turn.

If your feeding alot buy in bulk and you will save money. Either contracting out a few tons from a local feed store or pay a back haul fee for a load of uncleaned corn up north.

Here in Minnesota the crop is good so far. Nationwide they are estimating lower yields resulting in price increases of up to 40%.

I run two feeders that utilize about 500 lbs of corn each per season. I know we are saving now just to fill feeders. Crazy prices. Saw $8.95/50 lb. at Buccees's.

no people in texas will adapt. for instance they might learn how to really hunt track deer. or they will go around bagging acorns.

she said ,why does that ammo have pretty green tips on it? the guy said its the eco-friendy ammo.

Hot dry weather in the corn belt has run the price up from $5 to over $7/bu recently. It was up 34cents, just today.
it is 10.00 in my neck of the woods already!!!

Next trip to the lease another Elimintor plate will be installed. They pay for themselve quick, 2 feeders down, 1 to go but it will require a whole new feeder can't retrofit it.

Missouri is hurting bad. Saying a lot around our place won't even harvest. It's gonna be uglier.

Futures contracts are at $.15 lb and headed higher. One estimate I saw predicted a peak of about $9.10 a bushel or about $.16 a pound. By the time all the overhead and markups are included I think that $.20 figure will be pushed real hard.

Just to let you know, it's high over here in La. too. The lowest around my area is 8.99 a 50# bag. This years corn crop in NE Louisiana is a good one, but the prices are still high. I'm just glad I don't rely on corn to hunt deer.

I hunt on 160 acres of weeds with a total of 2 mature trees. No corn=no deer which kinda sucks but I don't have to pay to hunt it and have taken 150 class deer off of it two years straight, so corn it is. laugh

Nothing wrong with that. I'm not one of these hunters who think if you hunt over corn your not a real hunter.

Brace yourselves.....it's gonna get higher. Around my place in Iowa, crop is looking decent, however, that is not the norm, Southern Iowa farmers are already starting to chop. Framers will be getting record prices for their crops this year.
