Wouldn't surprise me at all to see a record buck come from just outside the city limits somewhere. My uncle killed a huge buck several years ago on 80 acres that you can literally see the town from. I killed a nice 8pt there also, you just have to be careful how you hunt it.
I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.

If not imported and engineered genetics, I think the largest horn deer I've seen were So. of Cotulla, Batesville, Encinal, Miranda City toward Hebbronville...Now days with high fences and imported genetics you may see some granddaddys anywhere, but they are'nt always home grown...My buddy killed a 30 in wide inside yrs ago just past the Cook ranch, and my old hunting Buddy, long deceased, killed about 5 over 25 ins. on the Rafter S Ranch at Batesville when we worked for Pet West..DD

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Northside of Lake JB. Thomas. Borden County, along the Scurry County line. Pin point it more so. Due North of the "Sourdough" Community. Along the West Shore.
