First off there is one picture here maybe too graphic for the soft skinned people please turn away when you get to that point i don't want drama, most have seen it all.

So my buddy and I are on our days off and he is from California and only weapon he has ever shot was a red Ryder bb gun, so I figured I'd take him hunting and the best place I could think of to go hunt in south Texas was with Duane, called him up asked what kind of meat hunts we could put my buddy on. Well talking it over with Jeff my buddy, he said "Dirty, I'm from Cali I go big or go home!"

Called Duane back up and told him the plan, Duane told Jeff go with a ram for his first real kill so he would have some horns to show for it.

This afternoon got to the ranch, Jeff told Duane he didn't want this to be too easy he wanted to try a bow, and take a rifle as back up, knocked a few arrows and made the ears ring and we were ready for a hunt.

Finally 20 minutes of driving the property checking for the rams we found them and got on foot, after trying to be quiet and going through thick mesquite trees we were 70 yards away from the herd of rams, well that group being lead by 2 big mouflon the herd could sense danger coming their way and got the hell out, we all said this wasn't gonna work with a rookie pulling back the string. We caught back up with the herd and through a small opening, Jeff saw the ram he wanted to take was standing there, as he was getting ready to squeeze at 60 yards that ram wanted to start running again.

Once again we start moving along and got ahead of the herd and post up in the field, Jeff sees his ram, Duane and myself get eyes on the ram, just as the ram presented a good enough shot, that group wanted to run and I told Jeff whistle and get ready to shoot, sure enough he stops, Jeff puts that bullet right behind the shoulder kinda low but still enough to kill that ram.

Here is what what got from start to finish. Overall left side 30" , Right side 30 1/2", and there is still a few big ones left out there.






For the time Ive known Jeff was always serious, never seen him this happy. He enjoyed his hunt had a great time. Anyone else who is in the area needs to give Duane a call cuz these aren't no hand fed babies just like the rest of exotics on the place this was a real hunt.

Ha that's funny mike, we call him that at work. Daniel yeah all his tats came from round Bakersfield, California. Jeff and I took his ram to the taxi this morning

So today we ate the back strap off that ram... Cajun style cut it up small pieces made it into a gravy with white rice... Dang that was sooo good... Thanks again Duane for that hunt lookin forward going back out with you again..
