Not that I would shoot a animal that far, but I know my setup still has 68lbs of KE and is traveling at 260fps at 120 yards. Which should be enough for a pass through on most animals.

X2. I would be more proud of a 5 yard shot on a mature buck than a 75 yard poke. Just the ability to execute a stealthy draw on an animal at ranges that you can see their pupils dilate and hear their breathing gets my adrenalin going.

Aside from questioning the credibility of making the shot, my question is why even attempt such a risky long shot on apparently a record quality big game animal? Even if you are an absolute bad mamajama with a bow there is a lot of variables at that range.

when I was younger I took a shot at a young deer I had sppoked from it's bed and ran uphill. I held fro the top of its back and let fly. the shot hit it's heart and lungs perfectly. I went back to the cabin to get my dad for the dragging back to the house and he asked how far did you shoot it I said I don't know my arrow is still in the ground let's pace it off....Well from where I shot to where the hair of the deer was to where I hit her was 63 yards. was I intending to shoot that far? NO, it was a pure instinctive quick draw shot that connected luckily resulting in a good shot and a quick recovery.

53 yards for me on a 150 lb sow. Complete pass thru with a Steel Force, dead inside 40 yards. As for the 120 yard shot its not that unbelievable, not that I've done it but if practiced and conditions are right it's doable. Tim Wells killed a mule deer at 110 way down hill on his show the other day, it can be done.

I did read about the old timers shooting 97yrds at animals with a long bow. I've tried the 100yrd shot before jacking around at targets and yes I did loose my arrow. I'm not able to do that shot because, your talking about an absolute perfect situation for that to work, no string jumping????

Last september I shot an 38" oryx at 35 yards and for some reason shot very low. I knock another arrow and shot him low in the heart at 70 yards from the ground. I did not realize how far the shot was until we went to where the bull was standing, I orignially thought it was more like 55 or 60. Unfortunatly I did not have time to turn the camera for the second shot. I was more concerned with getting another arrow into the bull.

My furthest was a hog at 25 yards at night with a maglight behind me to light the pins and peep.

i shot a prairie dog at 73 yards on a hundred dollar bet. It pinned him to the back of his hole. I had 4 witnesses.

I practice longer ranges but if I wanted to kill them out long I would use a rifle. I've killed one buck at 35 and would take a longer shot should the need be, or to try to put down a wounded animal. To each his own but I'm not trying to be a long range marks man. I'm trying to be a good predator.
