Apparently they are a much bigger target... So I'll just aim higher For me that would mean miss bigger. And let the guide do the ranging. Na!!! See this way I get to go back back and back and back and by that time the animal will have died of old age. Can't add to my trophy room that way.

12-20k depending on area. These are all very remote fly ins. Some the higher priced ones are for more remote areas. The guide area I was inwas Wade Renfroes area. I am an assistant guide of his...the hunt has to be booked through him. Renfroesalaskanadventures.com . I could be your guide on the hunt STX!

I'm still bringing my 25-06.. Just going to have to bring more ammo then planned. A lot more..... Seriously good luck on the Dall hunt!!! Can't wait to see the pictures!!!

Still have and use my Browning -A Bolt-. Bought in 88. Great round. Whitetails, Mulies. Along with 2 Cow Elks. Taken with it. All Clean-Kills. Land I now hunt is better suited for my .243.

Personally, I want something bigger for moose, maybe a .35 Whelen or .338. But the guy I met who used a .25/06 single shot lived in the bush -- all he had to do was open his front door and he was hunting. To him killing a moose was rather like shooting a whitetail to most of us Texas hunters.

i am suprised this thread went on so long.
the .25-06 is nearing its 100th birthday and is considered quite antiquated, but it has killed a gazillion animals in its day.
it is more than enough for even the largest of deer
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I wouldn't worry about big game. My northern buddies harvest huge game with .243s and .25-06s. Shot placement is everything. I have a Ruger m77 .25-06 and it is my go to tool for hunting anything where a rifle is appropriate. It's flat, it's fast, and it's all you need. My gun likes Hornady 117s.
Beer of the world beware. I'll kill an 18 pack just to watch it die.

I have a good friend that uses one with the gray boxed winchester 120 grains. Its a antelope machine for sure and he has killed big bodied whitetails and even big mulies in West Texas 3-400 yards. I was recently thinking of getting one and opted for the 270 wsm and I absolutley love it. 270wsm is a great cal. And could agruemently be the best under 500 yard caliber in the US if you can handle the recoil. I have not noticed recoil on my 270 wsm being to bad. Grew up shooting 270 win and havent really noticed a difference in factory loads.
Dont tell me you shot the 4 point for the meat when there are does all around.
