No kids so mine will probably go to someone I like at that time I am available for adoption Only one that would work for you would be my first BB gun. My Daisy Cub. Rest would have to have the stocks shortend

I hope obama doesn't get them before I am gone. I'll bury mine with the "Twin Sisters" before that happens!

It's not going to matter to me who ends up with them. I have two daughters that aren't interested in firearms in the least. I suppose they will probably sell them. Historically, in my extended family which ever family member made it into the house first with the gall to take them ended up with the guns and everyone else spent the rest of their days mad over it. The guns never had any real value. No one really owned any gun/guns worth anything.

Since we don't have kids, I'll probably give one or two to nephews and the rest will be sold in an estate sale.

All I can say is, if you have someone you want them to go to, get it in writing. When you are in a box, none of that "he promised me" stuff is going to hold up. Good chance they will end up going some place you dont want them to if you dont have it in writing in a will, saw it happen recently......

Hopefully I'm willing to give them away before I go, and hopefully I raise kids and grandkids who would use them!

No kids, divorced, so they will go to my hunting buddies. My family knows that my buddies are to come and pick up everything, rifles, game cameras, hunting lights, reloading stuff.

Having been blessed w/four sons, I've made sure to give them each several rifles and shotguns. I kept a few, but being 68 and having had heart surgery last June, One starts to plan ahead. The boys all have Mgn. Rifles and I still kept my 22-250, and a couple of 308's ect..but my cousin in Dallas who has an extensive collection has no children and was thinking of moving to Mx. where he cannot take them..he thought of giving his to the family or selling them..I told him to get a Con X and store them here and I'd take care of them until he wanted them back..DD

My boy has gone rogue on me, plus never really has shown any interest in my gun hobby. I figure he would just sell my prize toys for way less that they are worth, so he won't be getting my guns. My wife, then my buddies, so I know they will be in good hands is my current choice.
I am gonna check out having my ashes put in the gun safe though...

I have never really understood why those who are so fortunate to live long enough to have kids and grandkids wait until they are gone before they pass down their possessions. I am young and maybe my views will change as I grow older but I currently wish to give my possessions away while I am still around.
I would rather give my son or daughter a prized rifle so that they could use it and go hunting with me and I could have the opportunity to explain to them how much it meant to me, especially if I was lucky enough to have a collection of guns just sitting around collecting dust. I would love to see the joy on their faces and the ability to talk to them about the story of the gun and hunting trips that it has been on rather than waiting until I die and leaving a note saying "I'm done using these, now you can have them."
I think that if you give your guns away while you are still around you can express the importance of them and reduce the risk of them getting sold to a pawn shop. Maybe my views will change as I get older and actually have a collection to give....

you're never guaranteed a tomorrow and that could produce a lot of different outcomes if it's not drawn up.

I have never really understood the whole "leaving in my will" thing. I am young and maybe my views will change as I grow older but I currently wish to give my possessions away while I am still around.
For one week read the obituaries from a large town newspaper. See how many young people are in the obits in a weeks time. You might be surprised.

Maybe my views will change as I get older and actually have a collection to give.... I have a .243 that is already promised to my youngest dauther because she uses it when she hunts with me. My other two daughters have expressed an interest in the others for their kids, once they begin having them. I'll just divide them so that each daughter receives equal consideration.

My wife's family just went through this same exact issue. Grandpa had about 50 guns, many of them were very valuable. He had three kids, 7 grandkids and 6 great grandkids. The will stated that each descendant would recieve a gun. My FIL and I inventoried all of the guns, and provided the list to the family ahead of time. A few Saturdays ago we divided them up. His 3 kids went first, after drawing numbers from a hat. 1st # picked whatever gun they wanted. Grandkids went next, great grandkids went last. After each descendant picked one out, the remainder of the guns were divided between the three children of the grandpa.
Still was some controversy, but it seemed to work out that every person got a gun that they really wanted, most got the exact gun they wanted. Seems like a pretty fair way to handle it.

my kids, and a few close friends. Mama and I have discussed each and everyone of them, and I have put it in writing. the kids, still young, have started placing "dibs" on certain ones, and those wishes will be granted.
I have outlined who will get to pick and choose among the gear as well.
The rest will be either sold, or saved for future family members.
