Biggest from our ranch in Palo Pinto County. 33" and 34" beams. Yes we are HF. Pretty special animal because of the beams HF or not.

Probably the longest beams I have ever seen. I know you said HF but is that native genetics?

This deer is 50% northern and 50% south texas. He get's his mass and his beams from that northern blood.

2Gs, I wouldn't have let that deer walk either with YOUR brother-in-law in the stand. He has some sneaky habits. You should get him on here and show everyone the picture of my biggest deer he shot.

My Trans Pecos Mule Deer from fall of 2010. 6x7 that grossed 183" and dressed 208#s. Spotted him at 8:15 that morning over a 1.5 miles away. He would not raise his the whole time he fed for 15 more minutes and then I lost him and thought he bedded down. I found a pipeline in that area and drove in and tried to walk the area out. I must have walked right past him. I was on the opposite side of him driving to go to a small hill so I could sit and glass the area with sun behind me that afternoon. I had a T/C and I was going to put on the closest water trough in that area when I was driving I decided to stop and glass. I put my binos up and he was up and feeding as soon as I put them up over a mile from me. I marked him and had to drive about 2 miles to get to the pipeline. I marked him along the way and then he bedded again. This time I had him marked better I thought. I parked about 600 yrds away and took off. It all changed the way it looked when I walked in. I had only seen 2 grass strips and then brush strips in between. There were 3 grass strips. I decided he was a little farther away on the second strip so I decided to use the wind on the strip in my face. I change my mind half way to the west end of the first strip and turned and walked about 150 yds right to him bedded. At about 100 yds from him I decided to turn my scope down to 6.5 power and carry my rifle instead of shoulder it since I knew if I seen him before he seen me I would have a quick neck shot or shoulder if I could see him. I had my shooting sticks in my left hand. I walked 50-60 yds and he winded me and jumped him up and was ready but did not think I was on the right grass/brush strip. Only shot I had at 60 yrd was him running dead away on flat ground in a dust trail and he was moving. I put the first round right to the left of his tail and broke his left rear leg and it ended up in the high lungs. This was a kill shot but did not know it at the time. He turned slightly to the right at 120 yrds or and when he cleared the taller brush I put one behind his right back rib and it lodged in his off shoulder. Another kill shot but did not know the exact hit in brush but snuck up on him trying to get up and I back up and tried to shoot him in the neck and it hit a small limb and skinned his neck/shoulder area and I think took of his rt mainbeam tip. He jumped up and tried to run but was about done but I reloade and drilled him thru both shoulders. I put another in his shoulder when he rolled and kicked as I was still not sure where I had hit him in all those first shots. I have learned to keep shooting on a ranch this thick and size. I was shocked that he was up and feeding at 2:20 in the afternoon and I had to have walked all around him that morning but never jumped/found him.

Now THAT is a hunting story !
Now I'll think twice before only carrying 4 rounds when I go hunting
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Now I'll think twice before only carrying 4 rounds when I go hunting I was shooting my Remington 700 BDL SPS .270 so I had it full on the bottom and one live one in the chamber with 9 more on the stock. Thanks it was a memorable hunt.
