During deer season we had a county sheriff stop by our camp and tell us to put out our fire because the county was under a burn ban. I had looked around online before going and even looked at the county's web page but couldn't find any current info on them being under a burn ban so we thought we were OK. I found this link a few days ago and it is updated daily. Hope this link helps some of yall out: http://tfsfrp.tamu.edu/wildfires/DecBan.png

not all put the burn ban online, in some of the smaller towns they have a city council will meet say yea or nae & put it in the local paper of on the local news...around this area, they fly a red flag at the courthouse or our VFD station showing its a burn ban

close call this past monday in crockett, high wind knocked over a little pine onto the highwire running across the front of the deer lease, wire broke, the live wire started the woods on fire, burnt about an acre before the forest service and vfd could put it out

A lot of towns, including Paducah have red flag warnings. This means the National Weather Service will notify the town and advise that the Humidity and Dew Point will be low making it very possible for wildfires to spread. When this is done most anounce over the radios so that people with scanners can hear and also they fly a red flag. Once these weather conditions cease then so does the Burn Ban. I hope this helps.

We had a rain here on Saturday night and yesterday we had a grass fire on our place that burned 200 acres and the ground is still muddy in places. Why a fire??? Wind had dried the grasses and broom weeds.
Tim it was over on 84 at what we call the "farm" across from James Wrights' place.

If you are unsure call the county sheriff dispatcher and they can infom you if they are under a burn ban. Being a fire man I have fought some really big fires during the winter. Even if it has rained the grass is dead and has zero moisture in it. The humidy is usually low and this causes a big tenderbox so be careful.
