Cut the skin off the breast and filet the breast off the bone.

Use this method on their page. No guts involved: http://www.wildturkeyzone.com/articles/dressing5.htmJust breast it out like a duck. Might not even see any blood. Take the legs or thighs if you want. Some might call it wanton waste to not take them but you probably won't eat them anyway.

I put the bird on his back, cut nothing but the skin right up the middle of the breast, then pull apart revealing the entire breast, and filet right off the bone. If you rip it apart far enough it will also expose the thigh meat. Doesn't take but a couple of minutes, if that.

I'm partial to avoiding turkey guts whenever possible. The skin and fillet method of harvesting the breasts is the way I go. The breast meat smokes really well. Inject the breast with a cajun butter seasoning then cover the meat in thick mayonnaise that as been spiced up with Chacheres cajun seasoning. Smoke using hickory (do not bbq) at 220 degrees for about 5 hours. Never fails to turn out some fine tasting meat. I usually smoke some chicken with it at the same time. www.hunt-texas-hillcountry.com
Nothing hunts like a Spring Gobbler.

Always cuy any meat across the grain. That goes for red meat, white meat, and clear meat. I suggest you leave the green meat alone.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

After fileting the breast I will sometimes take some of the easy thigh meat to freeze to add to gravy. It tastes better than giblets but thats jmo.

I couldnt help but taste the smell after cleaning a turkey several years ago. Left the turkeys alone for awhile after that. Cutting the breast is definately the way to go.
Well.... uhhh

Yes..I do the breast fillet method. In fact I bring a fish fillet knife for that purpose. The breast makes a great meal in the crock pot with cream of muchroom soup, onions, sliced fresh jalepanos and other spices.

Pour boiling water on the feathers. They'll rub right off. As for the smell, well then MAN UP!!!!!!! If you have kids, no smell should bother you. Next time think about that before you shoot.

I was taught never to pour boilig water on the chicken/turkey because it would cook the skin and cause the feathers to be harder to pick. We always used simmering water. Than gutted them and cut them up.
