I like to think of this 8pt. that my Dad harvested in South Texas last year as a good management buck. He was 4-4.5 years old, 19", fairly heavy horned for non-protein fed and pretty decent tine length.

That's a nice buck, but nowhere near 19". Gonna be closer to 14-15".

TxAggie, upon further inspection you're right. He was actually 18" outside spread, 16.0" inside spread. The 19" I was referring to was outside spread and I was off by an inch. I still usually speak in "old school" terms which would be outside spread. Sorry about any confusion.

Thanks guys, the old man has shot lots of nice ones over his 50+ years of hunting free range, low fence South Texas leases.

Yeah its starting to turn backwards for me, was dad giving up everything so his kids could get a deer, and now I love seeing him shoot deer. Owning our own place has been a dream for a long time for me, alot longer for him, and seeing him bust the first one out there was awsome to me.

Nice management buck what matters most is that your dad was happy with him, and he got to put some meat in the freezer!!
