I'm still having trouble with 60+ DW so had start shooting an easy bow. I normally only shoot 50# in competition anyway regardless if it's 3D or field archery. Shot almost 200 arrows yesterday (in the heat)shot 50 early this morning and I'll rest in between 50 arrows at least an hour.. I can't wait until Troy opens the shop Alvarado in August, be nice shooting in air conditioned area.
Anybody know if Alpine has a target (nice if they had 70 meters) range besides 3D. I need to get some elevations set on my sight.

I have been thinking lately about dropping the poundage on my bow. Just hard for me to get out of the mind-set that more poundage is always better for hunting. My bow is at about 72 pounds and I pulled a friends that is at 60 and thought how nice it was to shoot.

I would get a second set of limbs, it would be much cheaper then a new bow. And you never know if you may need your 70lb ones again.

I keep my hunting bows and comppetition bows seperate; I don't mind my hunting bows being on the strong side. I don't shoot it like I do the bows I compete with. Right before each hunt I make sure everything is fine and I don't draw it back again until I have a shot on some game.
As far as changing limbs I can't tell you how many limbs I have sitting in my garage or what they go to.

Archery is one thing I'm not competitive about. Work, softball and fishing no holds barred. With my bow I am relaxed and free from all that. I want everyone in camp to score regardless of what the outcome of the hunt is for me. Don't get me wrong, I want to make the shot every time, just not at another persons expense like it was in rifle and pistol shooting. For me archery is a sport where all of us should win.

So I have one bow, and maybe a backup, and I shoot to relax and hunt. But the shoulders tearing up may be a symptom that says get a lower draw weight.

I dunno about Alpine having much of a range.

CCR has a range out to 100 meters. Since it was so calm early on Saturday, I went ahead and sighted in my 40, 50 and 60 yard pins out there and then shot a couple of rounds of 3D (about 50 targets)

I probably shot about 200 arrows yesterday. I've made every excuse in the book not to practice the last few weeks: too hot, too windy, too wet, blah blah blah. I'm feeling my lack of dedication today, that's for darn sure!

Thanks; I do need to get out there, I know they have a lot of tournments might as well start shooting out there, I just hate to drive through Ft. Worth it's starting to get worse than being on 635 in Dallas.

I think that more people would do better if they dropped the weight on the bows and didn't worry as much about speed and concentrate more on what they can comfortably shoot.

You’re absolutely right 100% brother. However every one of us has different views of what they are wanting out of archery. To me it’s about being the best (I) can be regardless of what place I come in shooting a tournament. Some are simply content hunting and shooting every once in a while, while others shoot everyday trying to get to that higher level, and yet we have a new generation that think it’s all about speed and try to take a short cut to making the shot count. Yes speed is more forgiving on yardage, but it’s no cure for bad form, it’s all about consistency. Speed only means you miss faster..

What Sure-Loc are you using? Is it the Icon? If so how do you like it?
Thanks

That ain't no lie. I put 50 to 150 miles per day in a city vehicle around Fort Worth. It's a mess. Still prefer it over Dallas though.

Lucky I think that was a HTM sight and I like Viper scopes with a 4X lens, that picture was taken about four or five years ago. I was shooting a CSS bow (Custom Shooting Systems).. I gave that bow away fully rigged to a young man wanting to get into archery... I can't tell you how much stuff I've given away, that bow was rigged with Jim Posten stab and side bars...What good is this sport if we can't pass it along?

Sure-Loc makes a great sight...My favorte however is Davis Sights, they are a bad to the bone! I've been real tempted to get one everytime I go on Ebay.
In fact when I get back from Georgia next week, I think I'll buy me one! woot

There was a range in our area that was open on Sunday for people to come shooting. But on Sundays I'm either in church or I'm hunting. I really wish there was a place to go shoot in my area that was during the week or on Saturday even. I can't get myself to drive 60 miles to go shoot my bow at an archery shop with these gas prices so I just do my best with shooting in the yard a 20 and 30 yards with my kids when I get the chance.

I need to pick it up more often and practice because I have the itch to go get me some meat for the grill soon.

I'm blessed to have a lake house even though it's almost 90 miles from home; there I can shoot 100 yards if I want and the nice thing is I work out of the house unless I'm on a plane traveling to inspect a location some where (I'm a Commercial Building Consultant).. Lately I've bought and sold so much stuff on Ebay that I've been haning around the house to receive or mail out something. I have some Victory X Ringers and a Clarifer coming, hopefully they both get here today and I'll back to my little place at Possum Kingdom (with the A/C kicked in high gear) grin
