Don't know how deer would react in Texas to soybeans, but I have had my best luck when hunting over a bean crop. Even better if the beans have already been picked. Except for the increased cost over corn, I don't see a drawback to feeding beans.

I see people often feeding soy via protein feeders. I guess it would depend on what type of delivery system you have going to the spinner plate. If it is the small funnel that is on many feeders, I can see that clogging more easily than corn.

Soybeans are smaller than corn and throw easily even with a 1" funnel...and I have been feeding soybeans for the past 10 years with great results. One, they don't swell under high-moisture levels as do pellets and two, they supply more protein than necessary and you don't have to fill your feeder entirely with soybeans since they have a 42% protein level and another substitute for corn can be added. Don't forgot to offer your Trace Minerals since most protein pellets or high-pro feeds do not carry enough mineral to supplement.
If the deer in your area are not use to eating beans or peas, you'll need to mix them with corn to get them used to eating them, then go to a higher ratio.
With rising feed costs, its a gamble all around...

I feed the horn corn (soybean/corn mix) from my spinner and have had no clogging issues. I also have a protein feeder filled with antler max 16%.

Soybeans are a great deer food, but do not do well out of a feeder. Moisture will gunk up, and none will get thrown. Better off feeding out of a feed trough

I use Roasted soybeans where they don't end up molding...haven't had any problems with them in 10 years feeding them out of a spincast-type feeder. Also use them in a gravity feeder as well at my home place.

You can mix your own and come out cheaper and still offer the required protein level for deer.
One bag of soybeans contains roughly 42% protein and corn has between 7-9%...let's go with 8%.
1 soybean:3 corn will give you 16.5% protein
Corn where I get it is $5.40 and soybeans are $13, so roughly a little under $60/feeder and you still are offering adequate protein to deer.
If you want to go to the trouble of mixing your own. I did 1:1 last year and was actually spending a little too much for soybeans and wasting a large portion of the crude protein since deer are not able to utilize high amounts of it. It sure boosted the body and antler mass though.
